Hi just wondering what your status is. Have you heard anything? We are approved for an I-130 NOA2 received on May31st 2018. USCIS just did a post decision update to the case online saying it was shipped to NVC on June 27th. We were told it can take anywhere from 6 weeks from this date to 12 weeks. I have had so many different answers from USCIS, NVC, and here on the forum.

Crossing my fingers that both our cases have a beautiful outcome as quickly as possible.

After USCIS approve your case, they will send it to NVC within 1-3 months.

Then NVC will process your case and send you a letter to notify your case number.

For Welcome Letter, you can get it only when your PD is current on the table 2 DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS in Visa bulletin.

We do not know how long for this process. No one can give you an exact answer because NVC is very busy.

So what you can do now is asking them via NVC Inquiry form https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

Check the box "Please update my NVC file with this email address" so they can send you Case number notification email as soon as your case is processed.

After 2-6 weeks, they will reply.

P/S: You can ask them your Invoice ID too because it is created along your case number. However, NVC may deny your request.

Because Invoice ID is an password to access your case online, so they will send it to you via Welcome Letter only.

If you keep asking and provide correct information of your case, if you are lucky, some NVC employees will give it to you.

When your PD is current on the table 2 DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS in Visa bulletin, which mean you will get Welcome Letter soon.

You can use Invoice ID and Case number to check your case status on website https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ - Choose DS-261.

You have to check it everyday, until it shows a DS-261 form so you can fill your info and submit.

Then Welcome Letter will be sent to you and petitioner within 1 week via email and mailbox.

Hi, maybe this will help you. We got approved from the USCIS on April 18, 2018. USCIS send the approved documents to NVC on April 25th. NVC received the documents on May 1st. 8th weeks on June 26th since the NVC got  the documents from USCIS. I called on the 29th of June and July 2nd and still no case number and invoice number.  And got the Welcome letter thru my personal email on July 3rd with a case number and Invoinumber. I paid the AOS $120 on July 5th and IV on July 6th $325.

F2A has waiting time around 2 years. So you are expected to be interviewed in June 2019 (not exactly).

6 months before your interview, NVC will send you a Welcome Letter with instructions for 6 steps including paying fees and submitting documents.

If you complete those steps early, your case is safe to be waiting for an interview.

As soon as your PD is current, you will have interview letter.

How to complete early?

After your case is approved, register your email with NVC, and ask your case number and invoice ID, so you can submit DS-261 as soon as NVC send you Welcome Letter.

Prepare all the fees and necessary documents so you can submit all of them as soon as possible.

Avoid sending documents multiple times, because your docs will be lost and your case will be delayed until NVC received all of them.
