I have a

212a6ci

and

212a7aiI

one is a permanent bar and the other is a 5 year bar.  My 5 year bar expires in November 2018.

I am intending to immigrate to the USA and I know this requires a i601.  Do I still need to apply for i212 to overcome my 5 year bar if it already expired?

I have a US spouse and I have good extreme hardship arguments.

I read that in order to apply for i601 I must be denied entry first? What does this mean?

Thank you

All the help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. Im Canadian

If a 5 or 10 year bar is expired then you do not have to file for anything in regards to that bar. But you will be asked about it.
