i  have a similar question on form I-130A Part 4, points 1.a, 1.b, or 2. First, I am the Petitioner of form I-130, and the citizen spouse (husband). My wife lives overseas. I have completed form I-130 entirely (no professional translator or preparer).  So, I assume that I can also prepare form I-130A for my wife  and submit with our Form I-130 (probably send to Chicago). The issue is that form I-130A seems to want my wife to select either point 1.a , 1.b, or 2 (of Part 4 - Spouse Beneficiary's Statement). In fact, the NOTE: says: "Select the box for either Item Number 1.a or 1.b If applicable, select the box for Item 2." and if box 2, "preparer". In Part 6 (Contact Information, Declaration, and Signature of the Person Preparing this Form, if Other than the Spouse Beneficiary", the instructions say: "Provide the following information about the preparer you used to complete Form I-130A IF HE OR SHE IS DIFFERENT FROM THE PREPARER USED TO COMPLETE THE FORM I-130 FILED ON YOUR BEHALF. (caps mine). As I said, I completed Form I-130, but I am not a professional "preparer". I am assuming that we should check Part 4 boxes 1.a,  & 1.b, and 2 leave blank. Any ideas, please. We want to file ASAP, but this is a hangup.

Thank you in advance

In your case, no preparer.  Unless you needed to also interpret, no interpreter either.

Thanks for the response. should I check Part 4 boxes 1,a (spouse beneficiary statement)?

You want me to look up the form and find those spots?  Not going to happen.  Check the box that applies.
