I-130 approved! (but still there's RFE on my Birth Cert)

Hey  VJer's

So...a little background. I'm doing AOS from an O-1 visa and am based in Los Angeles.

I had my field office interview yesterday with my American wife and everything was fine apart from my UK Birth Certificate was not the long form (I only just discovered this was a requirement!)

Anyway, long story short, an RFE was issued at the field office and my case was on hold until I handed in the Long Form BC (which I immediately ordered and it's due in on Monday). After it's handed in I was told my case would be approved.

However, I just went onto my USCIS portal and this appeared:

We approved your case

Read the notice we mailed you for more information

If you do not receive your notice by June 15, 2018, send us a case inquiry and select that you did not receive your notice by mail.

If your mailing address changes, update your address with us.

What gives?

Anyone shed some light on this?

Ummm...maybe they pushed the wrong auto-response button when updating???

The online status is not always 100% reliable. Maybe you got lucky and they ordered your card. Send the birth certificate anyway.

I hope they pushed the wrong button! Either way new BC is on it's way and will be handed into the field office on Monday.

Are you sure the approval is for the I-485 and not the I-130? I've seen petitions be approved and the adjustment at a later date. Usually it would be when the person has an approvable petition, but there's some documentation still needed to prove the ability to adjust. For example, marriage is bonafide but there's potential  admissability.

Maybe there  was a policy change and a short form cert is good enough but the officer only realized that after the fact?
