some embassies require the I-864 instead of the I-134. In Kiev the I-134 was only used. Different embassy different rules

I-134 except in the rarest of occasions in some consulates regarding co sponsorship

YMMV

Here in COsta Rica they ask for the I-864 form if you are an inmigrant. I-134 if you are the beneficiary from K-1visa.

So I suggest to make sure you read non-inmigrant

Almost always the I-134 is what they ask for, I cannot recall from what I've seen anyone who have been asked the I-864. I have seen, however, from other embassies/countries people who where in the interview were asked the later. If that isn't an issue, be prepared with both filled out. Minutes before the interview someone will likely check your document to see if everything is in order and if there is something missing they might let you know or make you aware of it.

You don't recall anything regarding the i-864 because it doesn't happen.

Also note that the SD, DO embassy (and I am sure all others) usually send a pre-interview checklist of documents for preparation to the interview. K1 applicants get it too. It does mention the need of the I-864, but that checklist applies for a lot other immigrant visas in which that one is required. But for K1 in the SD embassy is almost always the i-134 that they need.
