hi everyone

 

question my father- in - law arrived in the us 3 months ago and still waiting on his green card

after the green card was apply for aren't we suppose to get a letter in the mail with a receipt number or not

I was told by my husband brother who did the filing that he only got an email that they or back up  so they should be a receipt number in that email right

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

So he came on IR5?

they should have got a receipt number when the paid the green card fee, or they can contact uscis to get the receipt number. They can then check for the green card using that. 

 

Edt to check that we are taking about the same thing - the green card fee is the $220 fee paid after the visa is issued. Not the filing fee etc.
