I have been working abroad for the past three years.  I want to move back to the States to provide proof of US income and US domicile to our consular officers.  My husband just had his interview at US Embassy Consulate in Guangzhou the past Tuesday May 15, 2018.  They want 3 things from us 1.  to get a joint sponsor 2. providing my concrete plan about finding a job and a place to stay and 3. to provide a police certificate from Guinea (my husband's country of residence) for the time frame that we have been living in China.  I have no friend or family member in the States that can become a joint sponsor.  Since they don't even look at my retirement of $200,000 that we tried to use in lieu of $0 US income, I have no choice but to go back to the States by myself first.  Does anybody have recommendation about how many pay stubs I need to provide to proof my US income?  I am planning to get an employment verification letter from my job as well which will show my yearly salary at above the poverty guideline.  Our Chinese visa will end the beginning of July.  My husband will go wait for me in Senegal where the US immigrant visa is handled for his home country and he doesn't need a visa to stay there.  We still don't know why they want us to get another police certificate from Guinea.  We left Guinea to come to China.  The Guinea certificate dated March of 2017 because that's when we started the CR 1 process with USCIS.  We have not been back to Guinea since.  We have already provided them with Police Certificate from China for the time period that we become residents.

My husband (we were common law at the time of my K1 fiance Visa) was born in the US but grew up in Canada. He didn't have any relatives in the US who was willing to co-sponsor my petition. We had more than enough cash and stocks/investments; but couldn't use it in lieu of income.

So he had to move to the States and get a job first. For my K1 interview, I used his employment letter (high income), 2 most recent pay stubs, and his past 3yr tax returns (only reported foreign income). And we had no problem at all! I didn't even get one single question about our finances during my K1 Visa and AOS interviews.

Short term pain for long term gain :P Good luck!
