Received an email stating that a letter was sent with information on extra documents needed- A RFE.  How long does it take for one to get a letter in the mail after the email notification?  Can I call the USCIS office to find out what they want?

No, you cannot call.  You'll have to wait for the letter which might take about a week to get to you - depending on how far away you are from your service center.

I have been waiting for the RFE in the mail based on the email I received on May 9th. It will 14 days since I got the email notification. Have no idea of what other document needs to be submitted.  Our center is Potomac and regular from VA to NC shouldn't usually takes less than two weeks. 

Can anyone please tell me how much time the USCIS usually gives to hear back from the petitioner once a letter requesting for evidence is sent out?   I don't to get the letter in the mail with little or no time to get the document that is requested.  

This waiting is not fun at all.
