Visa Got Cancelled after visit to home country

Hey Yall, so this question is from someone I'm trying to help resolve his issue, he's a close friend.

Anyway, So this Pax and his wife came to the USA in 2015 on student VISA, they are originally from Pakistan but resides in South Africa and moved from South Africa to the USA. Everything was going good, they had a baby here is the US as well, etc etc. .... Now Pax decided to sent his wife to Pakistan for a visit after a baby was born. Now the problem occurs here, when she was on a flight to the USA from Pakistan, In Dubai, UAE, she was confronted by the consular officer and VISA was revoked with a reason that, "they have hospital bill they didn't make and had no the source of income". Now all of us understand it's a solid reason for Visa reject. But what we are trying to get here is (Can Pax wife and his kid can apply for new visa??, or can they appeal on visa that was cancelled?) and as PAX is struggling, can he apply for Asylum which will be a last option that he is not considering because his family is there but is that something possible??

Edit: they had insurance i think chip and also they started making small payment but its a bill of $7000+ so I guess thats why?

Thanks for kind help

No consular officer would meet a flight.  Sounds like a fairy ‘tale

I doubt he has any ground for the asylum.

Why? If he is struggling without his wife then he should leave US. If  they are no longer  students (how do they afford studies, baby when on f1 visas you're not allowed to work?) Then it's time to pack the bags and go back home.

She will NOT get another visa probably even after the hospital bill is paid. This is what happens when immigration loose it's trust in you. P

I mean Abu Dhabi, my bad, I put Dubai,

Well Abu Dhabi does so it could be the cbp.  I’m not sur how they would know about an unpaid bill, I think we still have some missing facts

OK, I think it was CBP, I'm struggling with the same question as well, that how they know about hospital bill or JOB status, but I guess nowadays they go depth in details. Now do you think they have any chance of coming back to the USA or he him self-applying for Asylum and get approved?

CBP at abu dhabi will have same access as at any POE in US. I have heard that they can know if you have criminal history at POE but not sure about unpaid bill.

No. Asylum is extremely hard to get and he doesn't qualify just because.. what?

Is he still even a student anymore? Does he work? If immigration got a hint of him being out of status (through his wife, for example ) then he should rather get ready to be deported.

Yes he goes to school and works only 20 hours a week, nothing wrong, Just had a bad luck? I think I got my answer, he is better off going back

Apart from the difficulty of no real basis to claim asylum, he presumably has some sort of ability to live in SA, they could send him back there rather than grant asylum.

Hopefully will still pay the bill though ...
