Hello all,

My fiance lives in Brazil and we received NOA2 about two weeks ago. We are both very anxious to get her here and are just pending the doctors appointment/vaccines before she is 100 percent ready for interview (and we are only pending that because we have not yet received case number from NVC) .

My question is when is the earliest we would be able to try to schedule our interview in Rio and what is the process to do so? Do we need to receive the physical approval before scheduling the interview or can we do it with just case number and when the consulate receives the case?  Last, what is the average wait to be able to get an interview? Looking at other peoples time lines it looks like some people took 2-3 months between NOA2 and interview which we are both hoping to cut down on (hopefully to one monthish haha)

After you get your case number from nvc you can fill out ds-160

them when you case says " ready " you can pay the visa fee and schedule the interview and the vac appoitment after that you can do appoitment for medical

call the clinic first because most of them are walking in

I already filled out the DS160 without our NVC case number though.

It takes about a month to NVC number. Sometimes longer. Rio has a 2-3 month delay for interview and you can’t schedule it until you have your number. Once you have your number you go on ceac and fill out ds-160, pay the fee, and schedule medical and interview. Always leave about 1-2 weeks between medical and interview in case you get positive on something and need treatment or a redo. Rio will not send packet three, or anything. Some people don’t even get the email. You just gotta follow ceac for everything. Rio is really slow. Be prepared to wait 1-2 months before getting your passport back with the visa after interview. They tell you two weeks but it won’t. Don’t make any plans until you have it. Some people reported waiting several months before getting their visa. Again, Rio is super slow. It’s impossible to get in touch with them too to find out what’s going on so you need a lot of patience.

That’s fine. You don’t need NVC number for it. Only USCIS. Your ds-160 is fine. Just wait until you have your NVC number to pay the fee and schedule interview. You do it all online yourself once you have the number.

Medical in Brazil is not walk-in. You need to schedule appointment. And before even scheduling it you will need NVC number to do it. I wouldn’t wait on ceac to say ready to book everything. Book it when you have the number because it takes about 2 weeks for Rio to say ready then you will have lost another month of interview slots. Rio fills out fast and it’s waaay behind. K1 can only interview on tuesdays so it fills out fast.

Will Rio let you schedule an interview without it being listed as “Ready”?  Some people say you can, some say you can’t .  I need a definite yes or no

You can but it’s not advisable. Rio is extremely slow and if you schedule your interview and that day comes and they’re not ready you will have to do it again. And with that comes the wait and most likely new fees because you can’t schedule an interview without paying the fees. Just wait for it to show ready. You won’t be saving any time really.

I’m just concerned because all appointments are booked until October already
