Changing medical date after sending Packet 3

Just a quick one here --

Bruce changed his mind about when to have the medical after we sent Packet 3 back to the Embassy (which now seems about 287 years ago...but I'm just impatient to know when the Big Day at the Embassy is!), and we rescheduled for about a week earlier than the original date we put down on Packet 3. Do I need to tell the Embassy that he has changed the date? If not, will they get all confused when his results show up a week early?

The medical is tomorrow, and Bruce is nervous...wish us luck!!!

Nah. We didn't even tell the embassy when we were having his medical (he didn't write it on the checklist, just ticked it off as being done). It doesn't matter as long as you have it before the interview (and in enough time for them to get the results - which we were told by Knightsbridge takes about 4 days).

The only way I'd tell them is if you had scheduled it for the same day as your interview (which is hard to do if you don't have an interview date yet!).

Oh and no reason to be nervous for the medical. More than nerves, he needs to pack patience for the wait (we were in there just over 2 hours). Is he going to the Basil Mansions location?

Thanks for this -- one less phone call to the Scottish Extortion Hotline! We don't have an interview date yet so no worries.

Bruce is going to the Bentinck Street location. When I called up to make the appointment, they told me that all US medicals will now be done through Bentinck Street. I happened to look at the Knightsbridge Doctors website this afternoon and it says this too: http://www.visamedicals.info/contact.asp

What I found interesting on their website is that it clearly states that as of 1 May 2007, the price for adults is £170, not £200 as we were advised...methinks they need to update their site!! Also, interesting to note that US medical prices are competitive with the other countries they process for (Canada, Australia, New Zealand). New Zealand is £265 -- holy moley! :o

Hmm interesting! Color me confused! Maybe Basil Mansions was the one bumping up to 200 pounds and they decided to drop them?

I got this off the London Embassy's site, which oddly does not tell you where the medicals are done, just that you will be told in packet 3. I guess we'll have to see what location folks are given on packet 3 from here on out. When Chas booked, he phoned the number given on packet 3 and was told it was the Basil Mansions location.

Anyway, this fee jives with what the site you found says:

Medical Examination Fees:

15 and over - £160

14 and under - £80

From April 1, 2007 the fees will increase to £170 and £85 respectively.

Fees are payable at the time of the medical examination. The fees are payable in cash or by credit card, Visa and MasterCard only, and debit card.

It's not just Basil Mansions, it's all the US interviews that are now £200 for adults. Packet 3 says, IIRC, that when you ring Knightsbridge they will tell you where your medical is. When I called they said, "Oh, all our US medicals are going to be through Bentinck Street now." As usual, the Embassy website is a smidge out of date.

But all will be revealed tomorrow at 2.15pm when we arrive for the appointment. We'll be prepared for £200, and if it's less, bonus! If not, we'll be eating out on the £30 we saved! I know they say not to have your partner come with you to wait, but my boss gave me the afternoon off so I could tag along and any excuse to stay out of the office...

In that case, Basil Mansions is irrelevant now. Its all going to be Bentnick Street - and you'll find out tomorrow if the 200 pounds is correct.

Strange too because Chas asked Basil Mansions if it was ok that I came along and they said no problem. Did they tell you that you shouldn't come when you called them, or was that on packet 3 too?

It'd be really helpful if the embassy's site was kept up to date, eh?

Hmmm...not sure where I got the idea I couldn't come along... Perhaps from one of my visa-related nightmares I've been suffering from lately?

You'd think the Embassy would keep it all up todate, but no. After all, it was because I downloaded an expired I-130 form from their website that I got an RFE!
