Yep.  I did it.  My wife and I got married in Arkansas on April 7.  We file my I-130 paperwork this weekend!  We're both in Canada right now and we go across the border every single weekend.

Just to confirm it too. Entered USA on ESTA, got married, left US and filed I-130 paperwork. Currently waiting for the process to do its course (we are at NVC stage). Have visited USA twice after filing the paperwork (once for ~3 months, once for ~3 weeks).

Yes, absolutely, this is allowed. I'm from Canada and I married my husband and then went back to Canada. We had our actual wedding several months later, but we wanted to get a head start on the process. Whenever I visited him after that, I made sure I had my proof of return flight, as well as any notices of action to prove I was in the process of i-130, and not trying to stay and adjust status. You shouldn't have any difficulties. Basically, the boarder guards just want proof that you're not trying to stay. Good luck!
