Has anyone went through the experience in Brazil?  My fiancee is Brazilian, and I am American. We are not married since we are waiting for her K1 Visa.  She is pregnant and will more than likely have our baby in Brazil.  We are working through the prcess to make sure my name will be on the Brazilian birth certificate.

Have the consulate officials been jump to DNA testing if I provide evidence I was in the country during the time she would had been pregnant, my efforts to get my name on the brazilian certficate, etc?  If someone did have to do DNA testing, what was the process?

I went though a similar situation in thailand, the asked for a dna test. But the test can only be done at US government accredited labs. We had prof of me being in the country for conception as well as a long duration before and after. I was also there at birth ( but that makes no real difference) I would wait till you are asked for it, they will provide the list of labs and you will need to test the baby, you and the mom.

Our daughter has a Thai birth certificate and passport and now a USA certificate and passport.  The process was not that long but i paid extra for expedition all in all it took us 2 weeks to get the testing done and approved by the consulate .

Oh PS and I am on both certificates as the father and it makes no difference if you are on the foreign countries records as the father they don't consider that proof.

Dont know about Brazil, but my guess is they stick to their guidelines and order a DNA test if the child is out of wedlock. I just experienced this in the Delhi Embassy even though my daughter is a splitting image of me! Gotta pay the piper.
