I think the entire country would benefit from closing down for country-wide training on how to act like decent human beings.

MIAMI, Fl. Cheesecake Factory now says it has suspended several employees after a black customer and several witnesses say members of the staff threatened a customer wearing a Make America Great Again hat at their Miami Florida location.

The Daily Wire and Business Insider report that 22-year-old Eugenior Joseph was seated with his family on Mother's Day when staffers began gathering around his table and chastising the man for his MAGA hat. Witnesses say one restaurant employee doubled-up his fists as though he was planning to beat Joseph. The Daily Wire also reports that a witness told authorities that another restaurant employee said, 'I'm going to knock his head in so hard his hat's going to come off."

The Cheesecake Factory responded to the controversy in a statement to the publication saying they take the issue very seriously and "Upon learning of this incident, we immediately apologized to the guests in person." The restaurant also says they are conducting an investigation.

we take this very serious, so serious we suspended an employee for threatening bodily harm against a customer because of his hat. All should have been fired on the spot.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't lead to them being fired. I think it is appropriate to suspend them while they do their own investigation. A company shouldn't just outright fire people based on hearsay. It is responsible to investigate (but suspend them during that investigation) and then decide on punishment.

 

I'd be surprised if the Cheesecake Factory takes the same lenient approach that police forces often do with cops who act out of line. Restaurant workers are generally more easily "expendable".
