Hi,

I've had my B1/B2 application in administrative processing for ONE year, but suddenly a miracle happened - they've asked me to send in my passport. Does this mean it's approved? I wrote the consulate and asked and the response was a little...vague.

It's about the be approved, right?

Dear Mr. Xxxx,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Your visa has not been approved. Your application is pending receipt of your passport. If and when the visa is issued it will be valid for 10 years from date of issuance.

Thank you,

Strange response, sounds like they’re hedging their bets! There’s no reason they need your passport if not to issue you a visa of course.  It’s possible that they want to check the stamps in it before issuing too I guess. May I ask if you know why you were in AP so long - is it country of origin, where you’ve traveled, etc?
