On the actual topic if I were to compare Trump to Adolf Hitler it wouldn't be necessarily for antisemitism. His aggressive rallies that involve loud chanting, the way he focuses on undermining his opponents and his relationship with the free press are more relevant comparisons, in my opinion.

Obviously not on its own. I'm also not calling him or his supporters Nazis.

 

But to me the combination of loud aggressive chanting rallies, combined with the propensity to focus on negative attacks to undermine opponents, combined with the fear mongering about the "corrupt media" (or "fake news"), combined with the (for now) joking suggestions that people get punished for freedom of speech combined with the "ultra nationalism"...Yes there are some qualities that are reminiscent of fascism. 

 

Obviously he still has a long way to go, and I hope he never goes that way.

I found your comment about negative attacks to undermine opponents amusing..  I have seen more negative attacks against Trump than any politician in history, yet no one can seem to name one tangible measurable statistic that has gotten worse under Trump.

The media aren't in a political office. With freedom of the press they can choose to be as negative as they want. I agree with you that there has been more negative press about Trump than any other President before but I am less concerned about the media's use of negativity than a person who holds the office of President. The media also responds to what they are given. Trump has been the most negative President I have ever seen in my lifetime in terms of the amount of negative comments in speeches, twitter, interviews etc... about other people. Yes it's a bit of a "chicken or egg" scenario of "who started it" but again this guy is the President. It is dangerous for a President to even joke about potentially punishing or jailing people whom he doesn't like or agree with.

 

And yes many politicians have certain aspects of a Fascist Dictator. Especially someone like Obama who definitely had a similar "Cult of Personality" where people essentially worshiped him. The difference in my mind is that Obama fostered and developed that more so through messages of hope, and less through messages of "The other guys are horrible criminals and we should destroy them". That's where Trump takes it a step closer, in my opinion.
