Hello fellow VJers,

We are getting our i-751 form and evidence ready to mail this week. I would love inputs for our list of evidence...anything additional that we could add?

1.N's green card photocopy (back and front)

2. Copy of N's passport, driver license etc showing our address on it

3. Health and Dental insurance paper work showing both of us on the same insurance

4. Quarterly statements from our primary bank account showing both our names on it. I also got a letter from the bank stating N was a co-owner of our bank account.

5. Copies of car insurance showing both of us on the same insurance

6. Copies of a local garden's membership card with both of our names on it

7. Copy of a store card that we both share

8. Affidavit letter from 2 close friends

9. Itineraries of two trips we made together abroad including stamps in our respective passports

10. 20 photos from the last 2.5 years showing us with family, during travel etc.

11. Copy of 401K showing each other as beneficiary

12. Copies of IRS transcripts, state tax filing showing joint filing of taxes

What we don't have is N on any utility bill/mortgage/lease documents since I had established accounts already, and added N to my account as a user...so no paperwork with her name on it.

Any inputs to add anything else to this file would be appreciated....

Thanks,

S

Your list looks pretty comprehensive.  Do you have any joint credit cards besides the "store card"?  Do you both have driver's licenses with the same address on them?  What about your living situation?  Do you own a house with a mortgage/deed?  Do you have a rental agreement with both names on the lease?  Do you live with family (if so, get an affidavit from the homeowner explaining the living arrangements)?

Do both of you have debit cards on your checking accounts?

Do not worry about the fact that N's name does not appear, but do write a note explaining that the utility bill and housing documents are in your name only because you had established accounts already.

Just a note:  if you have a rental agreement, it is best to have your spouse's name on that lease.

All of these are suggestions.  I do not see wills or medical powers of attorney listed.  These docs are NOT required, but they are good life documents to have!

All the best, and good luck on your journey!

Thanks for your inputs, Sukie.

We do have a joint credit card... I overlooked that piece of evidence. We have a house with a mortgage on my name...I bought it a few years before meeting N. I will add a note in the cover letter explaining the utility bills/mortgage situation.  Thank you for this suggestion.

We don't have a medical powers of attorney or wills done yet, so nothing to add there.
