You can stay with your Green Card ... but there are risks .. that's all

A heart attack is not negligence and one is not held responsible for having a heart attack, seizure or anything else out of their control. That would be cruel and unusual to hold someone accountable for something of that nature. We are only held accountable for the things in our control/our choices (for example consuming alcohol and then getting behind the wheel).

What if your home country strips you of your rights like to own land, vote and work if you become a US Citizen.

That's exactly why my fiance (India) will not renounce his Indian citizenship...we want an option to live, breath and retire in either country in 20yrs.

So the many mostly colored men that ended up with US jail sentences and have since been released based on DNA evidence and other circumstances like planted evidence by corrupt cops (that end up getting caught making all their prior cases illegitimate) ... these mostly colored US men probably would not agree with your opinion .. as I do not agree as well.

If a person/passenger dies in an auto accident that's your fault and for example you got 0.08%+ alcohol, you are going to get charged with manslaughter.  Only a lot of money with attorneys can save you from conviction.  If a heart attack is brought on by the auto accident, it really is unfortunate but your going to get charged with manslaughter.

You're totally right about that. If you end up becoming a U.S. citizen, then you don't have to worry about all that paperwork and money being spent. What is the form to renew your residency status, anyways (just curious)?

The form is this one https://www.uscis.gov/i-90 Right now the filing fee is $540 which will of course continuously raise over time.

At my oath ceremony I met a man who'd been a LPR for close to 40 years (I was a LPR for 13 years before filing the N400).  When I asked him what made him decide to finally apply for citizenship he told me he was tired of paying fees every decade.

It's not mandatory to become citizen. Of course not. You can just renew your GC every 10 years. Actually someone I knew at a previous job was a resident and she did not want to become citizen, she just wanted to keep renewing GCs forever. Considering the current immigration debate going on with this administration, I would prefer to be USC than having to worry about renewing my residency status every 10 years and also the money we need to put in that process.

I was thinking the same thing...... Just simply having it indefinitely hanging over your head that you're constantly having to keep up with expiration dates forever and keep renewing it. I suppose if you aren't committed to the idea of living in the states forever, or wouldn't mind being sent back to the home country for whatever reason, then it doesn't scare you. But if you're intending on living in the states permenantly, citizenship would seem like a huge relief to me.

Håll ut, y'all.

Just to add, it's beneficial for me to gain US Citizenship as I can travel to more countries without applying for a visa. I Also, it would be nice to have the same citizenship as my spouse. I remember traveling in Asia and we have to use different immigration lanes since she's a USC and I'm not.

Hello, Everyone,

I am filling N-400 , I have created an online account  but i can not find my  account number .

How to find the number

Thank you

Why did you hijack a K-1 thread with a citizenship question?  You should find the correct forum and start a new topic

YMMV
