And you expect the police to keep you safe?  DO you have a police officer follow you around everywhere?

It's interesting that you seem to believe that Europeans should have the access to guns as Americans, despite Europe's homocide rate been much, much, much less than that of the United States, despite having more people, and greater population density. Petty crime might be greater, but that's probably due to having more people of various social statuses living closer to each other.

Yes. The nanny state cradle to grave

Don't express satisfaction until the cop also gives you an Obamaphone.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

except here a vast majority of the homicides can be attributed to a narrow demographic in a select few Cities.

How do you define "select few cities"?

London's homicide rate is about 1.2 per 100,000 (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-43628494)

United Kingdom's homicide rate is 0.92 per 100,00 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate)

https://www.statista.com/statistics/718903/murder-rate-in-us-cities-in-2015/

According to this data there are 76 cities (just cities with populations >250,000) that have higher homicide rates that London (Might be off by 1 or 2, I had to count it and scroll the screen down as I went). That is 92% of all cities with populations >250,000 (83 cities according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population#United_States)

Is 76 (or 92%) of cities "a few"?

Pretty sure you are not allowed to mention that, certainly not in London, or Paris.

You probably shouldn't mention it also because it's not true.

Well that was not the reason.

Yeah, that false statement (about homicide demographics) has been posted and repeated over and over on this site. It's sad that the folks that spend the most time criticizing fake information seem to have the least ability to actually recognize when they are actually exposed to it.

Unlike some here, I do not equate the homicide rate to the number of guns available, nor do I think the homicide rate will drop that much even if all the guns are confiscated.

The US murder rate was up again—and 20% of the national increase came in Chicago

https://qz.com/1086403/fbi-crime-statistics-us-murders-were-up-in-2016-and-chicago-had-a-lot-to-do-with-it/

Yet 92% of cities in the US still have higher murder rates than London.

I ask again - How do you define "a few"?

I am not sure what did it say in the article :jest:

  The article was from 2016.

No doubt Chicago has one of the highest rates in the country the last few years. The population base of Chicago and surrounding areas is close to 9.5 million people.  That's ~3% of the US population and every year until 2016, the murder totals were also ~3% of the total murders as well. There was a spike in 2016 which has been trending downwards since that year, but still higher than the historical rate.
