My first visa interview didn’t  go well. I have a less then 30g of marijuana record from 2005  14 years ago, visa denied so I got the blue paper telling me that I need a waiver for the drug conviction and staying longer than 180 days in the US. I put in my waiver application in March 12, 2018 come to find out it’s gonna take about 18 months plus for that to go through feeling pretty depressed trying to get my hopes up but it’s kind a hard,  been going through this whole webpage trying to find out similar cases to mine see how my case is going to turn out, but haven’t really found anything. Hopefully you guys can help me out with some good news that you guys seen or heard I’ve been married 13 years have three kids,I was in the US for 23 years I’m 33 now I just need good news to get my hopes up.i hit rock bottom right now

Dont lose hope man , you're still young , get the waiver , apply again and join your spouse , dont think too much about the time that it will take , 180 is nothing some people have been going truth the process for years and years  , as for the overstay , so many people has been approved while they did overstay their visa, keep your head up , because at the end of the day no mater how hard the process is everything will be ok

The biggest reality you have to face right now is that it is going to take some time. You can still file for a waiver and go through the process but it won't be a fast fix. Yes you have a lot to overcome but you will need to be patient. I think the biggest thing that affects people going through the immigration process, whether they need waivers or not, is the length of time it takes.

In the meantime, you can educate yourself more about the process and what to expect.

Hi Jack I'm in the same boat. I had a conviction 28 years ago and it was my only crime. I filed my i601 and i212 Jan 2017 I'm on 16 months I've been Seperated from wife and 4 kids 8 years now. Worst thing is the wait. So this is what I can tell u. Yes u been denied but the fact they gave a chance to file a waiver means ur have a chance. Other wise they would have said u don't have any options. As long as u can prove extream hardship on ur family and prove that living in ur country with ur family isn't productive to ur wife and kids u stand a chance. So just hang tough I know how u feel.
