When I did my K1 in 2011 my fiance (now husband) was not able to go to the interview with me but that was not a problem at all. My CO was very friendly and did not mind. I did see like 2 other couples in the waiting room with their USC so I guess it can serve as support but they won't deny you if you have good evidence of genuine relationship, etc. My country is not a high risk fraud country so the interviews in general are very "easy going" to put it in a way. And the USC presence is not mandatory. I know that other countries is better if you go with your USC.

I went to the interview alone and my visa got approved. Just be confident, and answer the questions honestly. The CO questioned my 5 month stay in the US, he even implied that I didnt travel but work. I just said, no. He double checked my passports to see if I answered truthfully about my stay in the US.

He didnt ask for our photos, ITR, and affidavit of support, but every case is different so just be ready.

you will do fine, with or without your fiance. Its not a determining factor. As long as your relationship is true, you brought evidence to prove its authentic and you  guys answered truthfully the i-129, i think there will be no problem.

i think there was one couple here..the US citizen was present during the interview however the petitioner forgot about his incident with police. So he answered no in one of the iterms in i-129 which for the embassy means he lied and this caused their visa to be denied.
