Hi good afternoon. I am here in the states for almost 5 years now through K1 visa and havent processed AOS yet due to uncontrollable circumstances and planning to do it by next month but my passport is going to expire on July. I want to ask for advice on what i have to do first. To renew my passport before continuing the AOS or it’s ok to process the AOS even if the passport is going to expire while AOS is under process?

Do the AOS asap and then worry about your passport.

I don't know what country you're from, but many require you to be a legal resident in order to renew your passport. In other words, I don't think you'll be able to renew your passport right now since you're not currently a legal resident. You have to do AOS first.

A valid passport is not required to begin the AOS process.  However, you will need a valid ID in the event you have an AOS interview at some point in the future (and likely you will based on your circumstances).  If your passport is your only form of valid ID then you will eventually (sooner rather than later) get that done as well or you will not be allowed to interview

YMMV

I suggest to renew your passport also as you do your AOS. I have never heard of home countries denying to issues passport to their own citizen even if they are illegally in a 3rd country. Call your countries embassy and renew it as soon as possible. Good Luck!!!
