I have heard that any LPR/green card holder can visit Canada without needing a visa.  Anyone have experience with this?

Normally, as a Jamaican my husband would need a visa to visit Canada.  People are telling me that because he is a USA LPR/green card holder he can cross the border and come back to USA without issue.  I'd like to hear from VJers with any experience with this before we attempt to visit Canada.

As LPR you dont need visa to visit canada by land. If you are flying, you need ETA which would take 5 minutes to get and $7  CAD.

I've done it twice while I was an LPR, once on trip to Montreal ('13), the other to Vancouver ('15). No problems. I'd still rely on the latest rules though. Things may have changed. Check with this website:

Hey Lioness.

My wife and I have made a trip to Canada 3 times since 2016 with no problems. One trip was an officer that seem to ask a lot more questions than the other but that is about it. Each trip was by land and we never had to leave our vehicle. No trip was longer than a week.

Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone!  He will be arriving most likely by plane and returning by car staying for about 10 days.  I will look into the ETA.   I am also thinking about a global entry pass after our nightmare in FLL Monday.
