If you are in the United States and seek an Advance Parole Document, you may apply if:

(1) You have a pending application to adjust status, Form I-485, and you seek to travel abroad temporarily for “urgent humanitarian reasons” or in furtherance of a “significant public benefit,” which may include a personal or family emergency or bona fide business reasons.

Quote

You must complete Part 4. of the form indicating how your intended travel fits within 1 of the 3 purposes below.  You must also provide evidence of your reason for travel outside of the United States including the dates of travel and the expected duration outside the United States.  If your advance parole application is approved, the validity dates of your Advance Parole Document will be for the duration of the documented need for travel.  Below are examples of acceptable evidence:

Educational Purposes

(a) A letter from a school employee acting in an official capacity describing the purpose of the travel and explaining why travel is required or beneficial; or

(b) A document showing enrollment in an educational program requiring travel.

Employment Purposes

A letter from your employer or a conference host describing the need for the travel.

Humanitarian Purposes

(a) A letter from your physician explaining the nature of your medical condition, the specific medical treatment to be sought outside of the United States, and a brief explanation why travel outside the U.S. is medically necessary; or

(b) Documentation of a family member’s serious illness or death.

So I took this bit is from the instructions PDF on how to fill out the AP form.

My question is, what if my reason for travel doesn't fall under any of these categories?

I'm applying for the AP mainly to visit my family back home (for about a month as a kind of vacation and also to attend a family reunion) and while I'm there, I plan to gather necessary documents I might need for eventually applying for a job here in the US like my high school diploma and college transcripts. And IDK if it matters but the family I'm visiting includes my 97-year-old grandmother but she's in good health right now (as well as you would expect for a person her age anyway) and it's not exactly an emergency.

But then that means none of my reasons are listed as a (legit?) reason for travelling outside the US. I also can't provide evidence for my purpose of travel (I mean, what evidence can I even give?). So does that make me ineligible to be approved for AP? How exactly am I supposed to fill out this form?  Has anyone applied for the AP for the same reason as mine? If so, how did you fill out the form?

Any and all help/advice is appreciated!

I didn't ask any more about it though since he said I should be receiving my conditional GC in the mail soon and an EAD & AP would be useless at this point. ._.

You do not need to provide a reason or evidence for your travels. The same form was used by DACA recipients when they could still get AP and thats why it has those sections. If your have a pending i-485 and your current status is not DACA you skip those sections.
