Has anyone applied for their passport renewal while in the US? If so can you tell me your experience?
I plan to drive from Pittsburgh to Washington DC to get my passport some time in June. I plan to print my own passport photos as there are no local shops that can do it.
It's a bit of a drive for me so I just wanted to make sure I haven't missed anything. TIA!

05-18-2022: Filed N-400 online. Received online NOA and Biometrics re-use.

06-03-2022: Interview scheduled (online notice).

06-10-2022: Interview letter received via USPS.

07-11-2022: Naturalization Interview

The ones recommended photographers from the official website don't actually do Australian style photos hence why I am doing them myself.

Our family has done it many times...

You will be without a valid passport for the time it takes to get the new one, so take that into consideration...

Download forms, complete accurately

Obtain photos that meet the requirements

Gather any documents needed

Schedule appointmnet via online service

Appear at the interview...

Thanks for your reply! I currently do not have a valid passport so that's not an issue, I have no international travel plans. I am applying at Washington DC so no need fro an appointment.
My Australian passport expired in 2017 and it was in my maiden name. I went through the process of registering my new name through NSW BDM and received the  official name change certificate for that so my new passport will be in my new married name which is why I need to complete PC8 for a new passport and not a renewal.

Did you happen to do your own photos by chance? Or did you go to a professional?

Just have another question for you! How long did it take from your passport interview to receiving your passports in the mail?
