Hello,

I received a letter for form I-864 and one of the requests was to submit all tax documents for the recent year, does that mean I need to send 2017, 2016, and 2015? When I sent the form it was before 2018 but I received the letter yesterday.

My other question is my husband didn't meet the poverty guideline in 2016 but he met it for 2017, could that hurt my chances?

Thank you!

So I had a similar issue with the I-864 and wasn’t sure which tax year to use, but what I ended up doing was printing and filling out the most updated I-864 on their site (if you look there is an expiration date on the upper right hand corner and my first one was expired). I only included our most recent (2017) tax returns and W2’s with the form and filled the form out very carefully. There is even a pdf you can download with specific instructions for that form. My husband had his interview yesterday and they accepted it.

And it is is my understanding that you only have to exceed/meet the poverty guideline in your most recent tax return. I did not meet it in 2015, but was still able to sponsor my husband because I exceeded it in both 2017 and 2016. Hope this helps!

You should not check the expiration date but the edition date on the bottom left hand corner of the page since the instructions etc. always refer to the edition date.

You can either choose to only submit the paper for your most recent tax year (2017) or your 3 most recent Tax Years (2015,2016 & 2017). There a box that you can check in the i-864. What box did you check?

We sent out 2014, 2015, and 2016 because at the time I filed it was still 2017.

Ah, sorry. I  misunderstood. I would have helped if you had a timeline either in your "Timeline" or in your signature to see what status you are in.

I have not been in this situation and I do not want to give out false information. If I take your information from your first post where it states that they are asking to send all tax documents for your recent year it sounds like 2017 only to me since they already have the other tax returns unless you noticed that you might have missed anything.
