Income tax is what you pay and IRS form 1040 is the form you file each year to determine your income tax or what you owe.

If you need the 1040 for your Embassy interview the IRS transcript is excepted and a lot easier to use. It's about 2 pages as opposed 265 pages of the 1040 (just kidding) most tax forms are about 20-25 pages printed. you can get the IRS transcript on the same day from here https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

@DaveAndAnastasia thank you for the help.

@Greenbaum thanks! I will tell this to my fiancèè later 😊 He is just preparing early for these documents. Were better be prepared than sorry

As any copy of an 1040 or 1040ez can be altered it is preferred that a IRS Tax transcript accompany ur tax document. They are free to request and you can request several years back. Very easy to request from the IRS site listed above. I have mine all ready to send to my fiancee.

Same, though I suspect it's 50/50 on whether Anastasia's interview will be late enough for them to want a copy of my 2018 tax year documents. I guess I'll file as soon as I've got everything anyway.

Hi everyone!

I have just been looking through the April filers thread and it is great to see so many exciting and expectant posts. We are getting so close now! Thank goodness!

I have been super busy preparing everything for the next part of the process and worrying that I have forgotten something important!

Yesterday I sent off for my ACRO police certificate and started to check my vaccinations, all in readiness for the medical.

I have had my K1 folder of evidence and documentation ready for weeks hahaha!

Hang in there! We are almost there!

I got it from someone in another thread I think it was the March 2018 Filers thread. I have been looking for an update as I thought this link updated itself but it does not, its rather behind now. I'll keep looking but I have not been able to locate so far.

I also read in the April thread that someone called USCIS to inquire about the old site vs new site. They were told that the new site has a glitch and that we should go by the old site NOA1 received date. Mine is a difference of 3 days old site May 8 and the new site May 11, so I guess in my case it makes little difference which date I refer too, but ^&%$ every little bit helps LOL. There was a little confusion because a VJer in the April thread got approved (new site April 2), but they were actually a March 28 (old site). So your guess is as good as mine. At any rate we are close very close Monday is October 1st and many of us will be coming up on our 5th month!!!!!

thats the thing that i dont get. people get obsessed over date on old and new site. its not a huge discrepancy. its NOT going to matter in the grand scheme of things, especially considering you can't even really inquire with them till day 225- which is a LONG way off for us. we have a mid may NOA1 and are on day 134.

keep busy. find other things to do. itll make the time pass a whole lot faster than staring at dates on a calendar ;)

Heck, you'll probably have your print NOA2 in hand before you can reasonably expect to get your case # from NVC.

Despite this, and a late May NOA1, I expect I'll be checking both sites daily once a May approval shows up. Hopefully I won't be too bad about that, though.

once they are continually active in may i imagine i will too. in the meantime, i have enough other worries that take precedence over worrying too soon over something i have zero control over lol

besides, paul checks it regularly. if something changes, im sure hell let me know lmao

i do check the processing dates on vj every day or so though, and keep an eye on the few months ahead of us to see where they're at. so i follow it in my own ways lol

Greenbaum's Tips:

1. It's advisable to contact NVC via https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html to update your email address as well as your beneficiary's email address.

2.  Use the tools here in VJ to answer "when I am going to get etc. etc." question. Near your picture there is a link for your timeline. Select it and once you're on the next page near your picture  you will see "follow similar timelines" and it will populate 12 other couples who are near your dates. Scroll down and you will see a "spreadsheet" style page showing all the variables for measurement for when others from your Embassy are getting the same notice of approval or action.  Try it. It really works!

3. And if you want to follow those from other countries that have similar timelines as yours there are several tools available to you. Go up to Immigration Timelines on the blue ribbon above and select it. Once you are on the next page looked to your left and you will see a box that states, "find similar timelines" and select it. A list will populate with those who are processing close to your timeline. When they start to change you will soon be behind them.

I followed those that were in my group to give me an idea where they were in processing so I could judge if I was ahead or behind.  It's pretty accurate, maybe within a day or so.

If you choose to follow those twelve members then you will get an email every time their status updates.

Good morning all, where do you find how many days your case has been active? I've checked both sites and can't seem to find it. Also, I saw this answered in VJ somewhere but exactly which date are you all using for your time line, the one from the old site or new site? Thanks in advance!
