I’ve had one before for a previous visa (non immigrant) and if I remember correctly it took about 6 weeks to receive. So to make sure it’s valid for 6 months I’m thinking applying in a couple of weeks during early September might be my best bet.

Thanks for the help!

The "expiration dates" on USCIS forms are for internal purposes only.

If a new version of the form hasn't been released, you can keep using a form after that date.

The important thing is to always download forms directly from USCIS to make sure you get the current version.

Thank you all for your answers! day 87 and counting...Do you all feel that this process is taking romance out of the whole marriage idea? How should I say, it is just too...task-focused, instead of daydreaming about the wedding and newly wedded life.

i was married for 20 years as was paul. there is no disillusionment about what married life is like on either end. a wedding does not make a marriage. i think the only people who daydream about it are the ones who have never been married. lolol we already know what its like to be married, and to live with EACH OTHER, more or less. our finances are fairly intermingled, we've been through more trials and tribulations than many people who have been married for years.  nice, for sure, but rainbows and sunshine 24/7? yeah, thats a pipe dream lol more like 'if you leave the cabinet door open one more time i swear i will take it off its hinges and beat you on the head with it!'

am i tired of waiting? yes. is there more time to go. yup. it is what it is. doesnt mean im not excited about marrying him and having our wedding, but i also know the wedding is not what its about.

Hello Everyone,

So I am posting this and I have been looking at other threads but haven't found any gay filers. SO I decided to be the first one for our May crew!!! I am very nervous since I just dont know how this administration would handle my case. My boyfriend is in Guatemala and gay marriage is just not something that they will ever approved. I submitted my case back in May 4 and I got the NOA1 a week later saying that they received our case on May 7th that also matches the information with the old website now I checked the new website and it shows May 10th.

I know we still have a long journey to go but I just hope this process goes quick and smooth for everyone.

I agree wholeheartedly with debbiedoo as I have been so to speak around the block a time or two, but in no way shape or form does this K1 process diminish the excitement and the romance out of the marriage idea. I would venture to say that I am quite older than most here so maybe my reasoning is a bit different. I have nothing but excitement for getting married  "again". Task focused sure it is, so is life in general but i still daydream big time of when I'll be waiting for my fiancee in the arrival area of the airport. I have so much to show her and she has so much to experience here. best I can suggest to you Jil is to don't under any circumstances let this K1 process beat you down don't do it, because if you do you have lost before you have even started.

Things will get better and easier I am sure of that so take a deep breath and hang in there. We are almost there and come on I know you daydream only a robot would not!!!!!!!!!

Btw am I tired of waiting yeah big time, but my eyes are on the prize!!!!!!

"This administration" still encourages "gay" marriages as did the last administration. So you should have no problems.  Good luck and happiness lurks at the Embassy.

Hi everyone. Looks like we are getting closer. 🙂 I have a question. As I'm getting closer I'm realizing I may not meet the minimum requirements for the Affidavit of Support when we go to the interview - expecting my NOA2 mid November at the earliest so estimating I may have interview in January or so? I am finishing up grad school right now and I am looking for work. I will be employed and be making more than the minimum requirement by that time. I assume I would need to provide the tax return for this year which is why I am concerned about the income requirement.  I'm wondering if any of you are in the same boat and NOT getting a sponsor. I know that's usually the first response, but I'm wondering if there are any alternatives like showing that I am employed at that time and meet the minimum requirement and showing my prior tax returns outside of this year. I don't have the sponsor option at the moment. Do you think this will work? Have you heard of anyone doing this?

So as far as additional evidence, I have chat logs from every month after what I sent with the initial application... and messages that speak of future plans and etc.. I have them in the form of  screen shots and printed them as pictures and  I am placing them in photo sleeves.  Not too many just a few in the beginning middle and end of the month. How about you guys?

I’ll show a few mundane conversations maybe one or two messages each month after the NOA1, my trips itinerary, passport stamps, hotel reservations, pictures, her itinerary to the USA etc. Also don’t forget as easy as it is to not give much thought but remember basics about your partner, I know this sounds crazy when we all are looking forward but simple things like ‘where does XYZ live or how many siblings’ could be ‘evidence’ just as much as a hard copy evidence of whatever.......just my thoughts

I agree.. this is not about the wedding this is about “marriage”, your lifetime union and faithfulness with each other. There were few people who rushed getting married but end up unhappily and discontented. So let us always trust the Divine Creator’s time for it is always perfect. :innocent:
