Good Idea I have not done that yet, I'll be sure to do it.

Can I recommend that you get a free dropbox or google drive account and set both of you up to access it. Then when you create or receive a document you can scan and drop it into a folder within one of those services. If you ever misplace a document you just go to folder and re-print it. I did that with my wife though the K-1, AOS and ROC. Most recently it came in handy as my wife was renewing her passport and she couldn't find a document and blamed me (:D) that she couldn't find it or that I must not have filed that document. You'd think the world ended. I said wait a min. Then I went to the computer logged into my Google Drive and retrieved and printed the document she was looking for. (shhhhh it paid dividends latter on that evening

Rule number one about this process:
Please do not make any official wedding plans.
Too many people have lost thousands of dollars because of this- timelines are unpredictable! So many places to be delayed- if not with NOA2, then with NVC, if not, then with embassy and getting an interview or AFTER the interview. I have seen someone in AP for 3 months. So please be careful

Once you get visa, you do have 6 months to use it to enter the US plus the 3 months once POE. If having a "dream" wedding is your goal, you certainly have time (8-9 months planning) to do that AFTER you get a visa.

Great information!

Can I add that every Embassy is different about their visa validity. The Philippines ties it to the medical date and so if you took the medical a month before your visa is approved and sent then you only have 5 months remaining. So, when you get your visa, everyone should be aware of the validity date as it is printed on the visa.

And this is a subscriber who just completed his interview.

After waiting for "something" finally on August 3, 2018 the Embassy at Santo Domingo notified us by email that we that we could start filing DS-160 and scheduling  VAC  and Consulate Appointments.  As stated before in these forums the Santo Doming Embassy does not mail packet #3.  However we expected some kind of notification by "snail" mail but got the email instead.  Still in doubt that the package was received electronically since NVC sent it on July 24 and the info was updated on July 25 with status Ready.  Now the CEAC shows that the case was updated on August 6.

Since both medical exam providers  Consultorios de Visa and Servicios Médicos Consulares list the appointment sheet (Hoja de Cita)   as a prerequisite you must schedule your appointments on the ustraveldocs.com/do website.  In order to do that you need the DS-160 confirmation number.

As stated in these forums be very VERY careful on creating your ustraveldocs (aka https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/applicanthome)  profile.  I won't spout the whole rant about the website.  Be mindful of two caveats: 1) Type the email exactly as it is.  One small typo will cause you not to receive anything since the profile will be created without the system validating the email first.  2)Never create more that one profile just to check out website user interaction.  I did both mistakes and had to call ustraveldocs and request that all 3 profiles (the first I created, the one with the typo in the email and the one with the correct email) be merged since I used the same beneficiary's data.  The system checks that and won't let you pay and schedule your appointments.  VAC appointment is on the last week of August and Embassy in mid September.  After we are done I will be updating our timeline.

Once we passed that hurdle we managed to fill and file DS-160 print in PDF the confirmation page.  We also printed in PDF the DS-160 already filled and filed.  By this week we hope to complete the medical and all requested documents. Know I will fill form I-134 as part of my files.

Hi!

I was wondering whether anyone planning to have an engagement party before the interview? I just had mine with my family and close friends and it is pretty grand, afraid that the officers think that it is a wedding ceremony. Is it ok to show pictures of the engagement party during the interview? I read that it is not advisable to tell them about the engagement party during the interview. All of my decorations/cakes, etc. have the word 'engagement' in it.

I wouldn't show pictures of anything you're afraid would look like a wedding ceremony unless it would be considered very unusual in your fiancé(e)'s culture to not have an engagement ceremony.

Heck, I wouldn't do anything that a random friend or relative might post a picture of on social media that sort of looks like a wedding ceremony.

@DaveAndAnastasia You are absolutely RIGHT! Kudos to you for sharing this with the others here.

There have been may cases that what you see as a "party" to what the CO sees as a possible "wedding". I would hate to see you come all this way and get denied because of an innocent picture. Why give the CO "ammunition" to use against you in ways you never thought possible. I'll give you an example and from there you'll need to make your own decision. If you want more information than in the upper right corner of this page is a search box. Use the words "marriage ceremony" and you will have more examples. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/641345-k-1-visa-wedding-ceremony/

So the Ds160 form whose information goes on it

Most of the information will about the beneficiary. I recommend that each of you to work together on the form. The final copy can be saved and each read it one more time before you submit. Most of the mistakes are made with spelling.

This is further information. Other people can assist you with your visa application. Note that under U.S. law (22 C.F.R. 41.103) you must electronically sign and submit your own application unless you qualify for an exemption. Even if someone else helped you complete the application, you (the applicant) must click the “Sign Application” button, or your application may not be accepted.

From <https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/>

Signature. The Form DS-160 shall be signed electronically by clicking the box designated "Sign Application" in the certification section of the application. This electronic signature attests to the applicant's familiarity with and intent to be bound by all statements in the NIV application under penalty of perjury. Alternatively, except as provided in paragraph (a)(2) of this section, the Form DS-156 shall be signed by the applicant, with intent to be bound by all statement in the NIV application under penalty of perjury.

The "expiration dates" on USCIS forms are for internal purposes only.

If a new version of the form hasn't been released, you can keep using a form after that date.

The important thing is to always download forms directly from USCIS to make sure you get the current version.

Unless it takes a really long time to get a police certificate in the UK, you probably want to wait until your petition is approved, if not all the way to London, before requesting a police certificate.

Any delays between now and then could mean it's too old by your interview and then you'd need to get a new one.

You best to do it now. Depending on the country it may take you one to two months to receive the PC. Most Embassy's require the PC not be older than 6 months at time of interview so plan accordingly.

Use this link to see what is required to get the Police Clearance for any country that you have lived in since the age of 16 more than 6 months.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html

Once you arrive on the landing page look to the left column and chose the first letter in the country's name that you are searching for. Once you land on the page for that country then scroll about 3/4's of the way down till you see "Police, Court, Prison Records".  Select it. Then locate "Police Certificates" which should be the first entry. Then check the availability of getting a PC from that country. If it states "Available: Only if applicant is physically present in the "the country's name". If that is the case then screen shoot the page and print and bring to your interview in the event that you need to prove to the CO that a PC from that country is not available for you to get unless you are physically in the country. That should prevent any problems at the interview.

I just opened form i-134 on USCIS and noticed the form expires on Nov 30, 18.

Do you think the requirement will dramatically change? I was hoping to get original document and signature from my finace when we meet each other end of September, just to save some time and postage...

We have seen that sometimes they will renew a form that expires and we have seen it continue to be used until such time as a new form is release. In any event, they will most likely use the start date of the new rendition of that form and they will tell you when they will discontinue a form. All updates to forms can be tracked here: https://www.uscis.gov/forms-updates  If you see a form that will soon expire and it may expire after it's intended use (Embassy interview) then it's best to wait till you are closer to your interview.
