He needs to prove that he was never married. So, if it were me I would go to the court house where he lives and appear in person and ask how he should proceed. That's my opinion from my experience in the Philippines where they have a document (CENOMAR certificate of no marriage) that states whether they have been married or not and the current status. I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences or suggestions.

From what I've read Jamaica offers something similar to what what is mentioned above. It's called a certificate of no-impediment (he needs to obtain this from the Registar General's Department/RGD). He actually has to have this for the interview as well, so might be a good idea to get two. Hope this helps!

Friends, do not despair.  It appears the USCIS app isn't always updated.   How do I know this? See below:

NOA1: 2018.05.16

NOA2 2018.11 09

I received my NOA2 today in the mail (I-797 I hope this is it).  It says approved/forwarded to NVC.  My app still shows no updates.

I am so happy! Tears of joy 😁

Congrats!

Followup: Yup, NOA2 approval! NOA1 to NOA2 took 177 days, or actually 5.8 months.  My fiancee is going to start on her police certificate while I start scraping together even more paperwork.  Going by the 80d average from NOA2 to approval, we're hoping to have her moved here in February. :)

Congratulations to the recent approvals and good luck to those still waiting!

Got my RFE!  I feel like it's an easy one.... USCIS didn't feel that our photos together along with matching dated credit card slips (from restaurants), and scans of local IDs with overlapping validity, was enough to satisfy the 2-year requirement.  Completely understandable, anyone could be photoshopping stuff. Plan is to get 2 affidavits and match up our passport stamps and boarding passes, her salary certificate proving where she works, and more photos.

Looks like our NOA2 is on its way (for unrelated reasons, I have that thing where the post office sends me photos of my incoming mail). Hoping it's the all-clear!  We received NOA1 on May 16, almost exactly 6 months ago.

For my fellow Canadian K-1s.. do you think we ought to start the police check process now, since it takes some weeks?  And if I understand correctly, my fiancee can't schedule her medical until the embassy interview date is set?

I've been waiting 3 weeks for mine. It can take up to 3 months..so I would start the process now.

weird that the passport stamps alone werent good enough. id resubmit those as well, and try to enhance the colors/contrast in case its hard to read (some of mine are super light in color). Color copies are easier to see the detail than b&w (at least on our passports that was the case)

i 485, 130, EAD and AP

04/09/2019    NOA1 received/check cashed i 485 and 130 (direct adjustment)

11/7/2019      Interview- Norfolk

11/10/2019    APPROVED (notification rec'd 11/10, approval dated 11/8)

DONE FOR TWO YEARS!!! ;)

Filed everything ourselves with no RFE's or delays.

CR1 for Child under 21 (20 at time of filing)- Filed by LPR Spouse for his son

4/4/20     Mailed packet

4/12/20   NOA1 rec'd

10/14/21 (havent heard anything... when do i start to get worried?)

9/15/22 APPROVED! Now to wait for NVC and interview....

ROC

10/14/21 Mailed to AZ PO Box. Let the waiting begin. Again.

10/16/21 Received at PO Box

10/19/21 Received Text NOA1

In our case, we are both working abroad. Between my frequent flights and the "meeting in a 3rd country", the relationships are about as clear as Mississippi mud.

No harm no foul... I'm piecing together a nice infographic chart for the agent including the pages referenced in each passport, or other supporting documents where there is a lack of corresponding stamp.  My initial submission relied too heavily on manifest search results to come to a conclusion.
