I was wondering if anyone has travelled to the USA directly after having their interview in Montreal and used their Nexus card?  I would return after the passport comes in the mail and immigrate later.
Thanks!

Not a good idea. The NEXUS is for non-immigrant entry. Since you already have an immigrant visa, this could get you into a lot of trouble

I received a PM from a fellow who did this last year with no issue.

Just because someone didn't have an issues, doesn't mean you will be ok also.

..why complicate your immigration history. After the interview, you'll have your visa in a matter of days.

thats what i was thinking.

just because you dont have the physical visa doesnt mean it hasnt been approved. once approved you can only enter on it once. im not even sure they would allow you in on nexus if the visa was approved or even pending already.

way more risk than i would be willing to chance.

look, be patient. dont chance it. its not like it takes months to get the physical visa once approved. a few days to a couple of weeks. you waited that long, dont freaking chance it!

Why would it be an issue?  I've been entering and exiting over 14times this year through all stages of the process including approval?  I don't see a risk...if they say no when I'm trying to travel on a B2 travellers Visa that should't be an issue.

Alternatively has anyone heard how to expedite the return of a passport if you have travel plans?

If you're already set in your plans, why bother asking about peoples opinion? o.O

I'm not set on plans; I'm asking if anyone has done what I've asked in the original question.

Now as for risk...I don't see any and feel free to correct my logic on this.  If they say no to me entering on a B2 visa I will withdraw my application and at that point enter.  It's the same as if anyone is trying to travel back/forth with a pending application which in this situation would be approved and in my opinion be less risky since it guarantees to the border agent that you will be returning to immigrate and that the B2 application along with return flight bookings would confirm the trip for travel.

Pending and approved visas are two different things. I have used NEXUS to zip through the lanes but that is on a non-immigrant Visa. Th only way, I would say that you would be safe is get checked by a CPB Officer. Disclose that you are coming to the US for a few days while your passport is with Montreal USE on a K1 or CR1, and let them decide. However, this might probably mean a secondary and a time wait...(which is long at Lake Champlain)

Yes, people have successfully done this. No, I don't think it's wise to try it. We're likely talking a matter of a few days, and one upset officer could decide to do an expedited deportation instead of just denying entry (withdrawal of application). It's not common, but just seems so unnecessary to take any risk at all instead of waiting a few days and having no reason to worry at all.

I think maybe some of you think I'm on a K-1 visa...in that situation I see a risk.  I've been married for over a year and have entered/exited 14 times with no issue thus far and have always been 100% clear with border agents.  I also still have my job in Canada and will continue to work in Canada after the immigration process so that won't change.

Again thanks for the feedback, personal experiences are always different for everyone.

But you are going to reside in the US, right?

Once I immigrate I will make the US my permanent residence; my job however will stay the same until I decide to make a change.  I have a unique bi monthly schedule with company paid flights.
