Which may or may not be considered.

Key word is "may". Better to submit it at NVC and possibly have it considered than not to do so and definitely not have it considered. ;)

You have no idea whether the OP "needs" a lawyer or this lawyer.  All you know is some opinions about an opportunity lost to front load the petition with relationship evidence.

It seems like the OP speaks pretty decent English and like some people, get a lawyer because they're not 100% sure if they can do it on their own or not.  I just saying, if he's on VJ, then all the answer are here and he doesn't need to waste his money on a lawyer.

Well, I got the attorney because he was a referral.  Being this is a new thing for me, I rather have a professional deal with it and not take chances on making errors which could slow down the process.  I like to browse VJ for information about what to do/expect during this CR1 process.

Regarding my English, it's my second language.  Vietnamese is my first language and is the language that I communicate with my wife.  But I've been on her to improve her English.

Correct.  However, setting proper expectations are still important.  What you CAN do and what WILL actually help are often so very different.  It's important to understand that about this process.  You can throw your "shoulds" and that kind of thinking out the window.

Horse feathers.  There are lots of reasons for needing or wanting professional help, including things as simple as having better things to do with your time than spending many hours studying a process you'll do once in your life.  The biggest problem with "not knowing" is that you don't KNOW....WHAT....you DON'T KNOW.

Well, sometimes lawyers don’t know either and if they’re going to mess up my paperwork.......I rather mess it up myself. I see so many complaints on here about lawyers........why bother?!? Do it yourself, save your money for the plane ticket.

My perspective: my wife is Vietnamese, and I am not but I lived in Southern California for over ten years.  I used a Viet Khieu firm to process my paperwork for me (they were able to get the Vietnamese consulate to sign papers in no time).  That had a very clear benefit...they did in two weeks what would have taken me forever.  I don't remember the cost but it was not much.  Are you in trouble because you did not front-load?  Not sure.  Have your wife take the information to the interview, and see what happens.  We front-loaded, but not nearly to the extent many people recommend.

As to people who say you do not need an attorney, I disagree.  What you need is an attorney that provides commensurate value.  We used an attorney, and if you do a search on my posts you will see why.  I was extremely involved in the entire process and although I didn't need him to process paperwork he was an invaluable resource for our particular situation.

Anyways, my wife has been in the US for four years, we have a happy life and an active two-year old daughter, and I don't regret a moment of the time or a cent of the expense.  Plus, I have a huge loving family in Vietnam, and my Vietnamese improves daily!

Best of luck!

When your case is approved with the USCIS it’s done so far. The US consulate is not making a second judgement on what’s already been approved. What they are looking for is evidense of an ongoing relationship. That’s why you like to present all available pictures, airline tickets, hotel receipts, phone records, chats, etc. from the time of your I-130 application to the final interview.

Personally I think a lawyer would slow things down and I have my serious doubts they would work as quickly and efficiently as I did.

If you are literate, have good comprehension skills and are organized you would little trouble doing the paperwork under normal circumstances.

You mean "would have slowed things down in my case..."  It takes more than good comprehension skills and organization, and you don't know if the OP is in "normal circumstances".  Ability, combined with aptitude, attitude, dedication, available time, are ALL required for a successful do it yourself process.  Don't AS U ME others have all that.  Some have all BUT the willingness to dedicate the necessary time, sometimes because they simply have better things to do with their time.

I can learn to repair my air conditioner too, but I pay somebody to do it for me.  I spent hundreds of hours studying and preparing for each step of my former wife and step daughter's immigration processes, followed by countless hours helping others through theirs.  One of the many things I've learned is that NOT everybody should be doing this themselves.  A second thing, is that WE are not in a position to KNOW who should and who should not.
