Hi,

nothing new yet. we did out interview on the 24th of June and they placed my wife's case on administrative processing (waiver application). We do not know how long it will take :(

does your wife live in Syria? or outside Syria? if she resides outside Syria, she has a big chance of getting the visa on the spot!

Thank you Muhammad,

How did the interview go ? did they ask any weird questions and when did they place your case on AP right away during the interview or after a few days they informed you?
Also Did you submitted a waiver during the interview or later or you did not at all ?
I heard from an attorney that we need to submit this waiver along with our documents during the interview. otherwise it will go under AP instantly.

My wife still living in Syria and our case was completed at NVC but the interview has not scheduled yet.
The wired thing is that they will ask you to attend the interview then will keep you wait with no answer though.
Wish you all the best and hope it gets better for you guys
Please keep us posted.

The interview was simple and short; just general questions on how/when we met. she also asked about the situation in Aleppo. They informed us right away that there is a presidential proclamation and cannot give visas; but we can apply for a waiver and they told us to answer the 10 questions and email them.

we did not submit anything for the waiver until after the interview. we answered the 10 questions and I wrote a couple of sentences on how my wife is not a threat and I need her with me.

They seem to hibernate the cases until further notice (or maybe doing extra vetting and security check)! this is ridiculous, we have been waiting for 15 months and now it seems we have a long journey ahead of us :(

wish you the best of luck and feel free to reach out if you have questions once you know when your interview it.

Hello everyone,

I'm an American citizen and my husband's interview was on Feb 20th 2018. He had all of his documents but had to go under administrative processing because of the travel ban on Syria. He's been under administrative processing since then and the CEAC site states that his case was last updated on Feb 22nd. Does anyone know how long the AP could take and is there anyone that is/was in a similar situation?

Thank you.

I’m in the same situation and had my interview also on 20 Feb. any good news yet? Which embassy did handle his interview?

I believe they do not issue any visas for Syrian citizens because of the ban. Someone correct me but he'll be under AP forces unless US gov drops the ban.

Sorry Roel, but I have to say that is not right.... they are issuing the visas for Syrian passports... my mother just got hers 2 weeks ago...8/8/2018...

Wow! What a coincidence that you had yours on the same day!

His interview was in Amman, Jordan.

Unfortunately, no updates. His case has been in administrative processing since his interview and we haven't heard anything since.

How about you?

That’s great! You gave me some hope here, how long she has been in the waiver process?

I had mine in Kuwait and still waiting. I contact the embassy every now and then but they reply the same answer that I need to wait and it needs couple of months.

I don't know why people are so pessimistic about the visa thing for Syrians. My mother in law just got her visit visa 2 weeks ago with no questions asks and my nephew just got his renewal student visa one month ago. my brother in law just took a flight with his family all Syrian passport holders on a visit visa to the US.

and I am waiting on my immigrant visa stamp after the administrative processing time that "should take around few weeks" based on my conversation with the counselor in Abu Dhabi the US embassy.

All these are done in this period of  July and August of 2018.

so, come on and stop being pessimistic... guys!!

It is good to hear this news. the reason of being pessimistic is that I know many people who interviewed in Feb and have not got a visa yet. In addition, each embassy says a different thing. From what I have seen so far, the ban seems to be less impactful on those who have established residency outside Syria.

She got her visit visa with no waiver, but I am waiting on the waiver and my case is in administrative processing for a few weeks. as per the US personnel in Abu Dhabi Embassy.
