I hate hangovers. So I never drink that much that I would get one.

So max 2 drinks per night for me.

Don't read the next bit unless you have a strong stomach...

About ten years ago I got plastered, really REALLY drunk. I had some chips (fries) on my way home, as you do when you've had a few. Anyhoo, rolled in the front door, managed to have a shower (hate waking up smelling of ciggy smoke) and pootled off to bed.

Next morning woke up feeling like death on toast. Staggered to the bathroom and was promptly sick, so sick in fact I managed to puke up the previous nights chips (fries) through my NOSTRILS (mashed up a bit of course). :o:dead:

I can safely say I never EVER drank that much again. In fact, I rarely ever drink now.

I've never actually gotten drunk (don't drink that much at a time), so never had a hangover.

That kind of restraint is pretty admirable

Thank you  It's a product of my family and religious upbringing. Wine and beer were frequently at our dinner table, so there wasn't the mysterious forbidden fruit aspect. And my church teaches that alcoholic beverages are to be received as a gift from God, and are neither to be abused, nor despised, whether or not one chooses to partake of them.

I've never been drunk either so never had a hangover...but I also never drink any alcohol. I've only had a few sips in my life, like champagne at a wedding toast. I hated the taste.

Basically, this poll is invalid due to having no answer options for teetotalers.

FOr S&L--I have a hard time considering BEER as a "gift from God", as I worked one time as a bartender at Calgary Stampede (total event time about 10 days). As I had to deal with a lot of invalid complaints such as:

  • too much foam
  • not enough beer (I guess these expected me to overspill the glass? I kept it generally "within guidelines")
  • trying to enforce a rule (told by shift supervisor) of "no more than 2 beers at a time per customer"--when customers wanted to "cash-in" rolls of tickets
  • disallowing a man from taking 3 beers (2 in his hand, 1 in his maybe-8-year-old son's hand)

On the last day I had work there, I broke any rules and simply followed "customer is right" to the ire of the shift supervisor--who promptly told me at the end of shift not to return the next year (to which I replied "thanks").

Nor does it have an option for those who do drink, but don't get drunk.

The problem isn't beer (or any other alcoholic beverage), it is what some do with it.

I doubt that certain people are immune from hangovers, they just don't drink enough to trigger one.

I've had 2-day hangovers in college. And yes, McDonalds is the way to go....

(how would Mickey-D's help one deal with a hangover?)

Um, I am going to venture to say that you have to poision yourself with enough alcohol to trigger a hangover. I am assuming this amount almost always crosses the drunken threshold. If you don't drink or don't drink enough to get drunk than of course you aren't going to get hungover. I don't care about these responses. I only want to know who does/did get drunk and experiences/experienced hangovers. My poll is fine.
