K1 visa expire date..?

Searched through the forums to find the answer but I’m seeing two different ones..

 

Is there an expiration date on the K1 visa when issued OR is the 6 month validity from the date of your medical?

 

Just curious as me & my fiancé are trying to plan a rough timeline for moving. (Im currently waiting for my NVC number)

6 month should be off your medical date.

Its not that easy, I had an interview Jan 16th and my medicals done Jan 2nd. My K-1 was issued Jan 18th and the expiration date is Jul 18th which is exactly 6 months since embassy decision.

 

What I believe medicals done by future K-1 holder are valid for one year (no need to redo them for AOS if vaccinations are completed and you apply for AOS in less then 1 y from your visa medicals) and are not defining visa expiration date itself.

You’ve both given me opposite answers like the ones i found on search - thank you anyway! I really would like a definite answer as curious

I opened my passport and checked the dates for you. It’s hard for me to believe embassy put those dates not according to general rules. If this is a very important topic call us embassy and confirm from the source

 

What I think is the problem, there is a certain time from medicals taken to schedule an interview which is probably 4-6 months but I don’t remember well since I was never concerned about that.

I wish you guys a smooth journey, for me NVC part was most frustrating, while medicals and embassy part fast and nice! Succeed!

Thank you  its only been 18 days since our NOA2 & Im still on been on a 2 month visit to my fiancé currently so the wait for NVC has been relaxing for us so far!

For London K1s, you will find that your Visa can be used to enter the US up to 6 months from your medical exam. After that you would have to have the TB part of the exam renewed before you could use your visa.

 

Read what your embassy says on their webpage https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visa-faqs/medical-examination-2/

 

There are several of the FAQs that will be of help so you understand. 

 

If you are are not ready to move then stall the medical appointment and interview. You don't have to rush to the first available appointment. London allows you to stall up to a year.

Im ready to move when I have my visa in hand we was just trying to workout what the answer was for the expiration  thankyou!
