Glad this one is staying around. I admit I have gone to order before and seen the sugar or calorie content and did not order.

I love this. There are soooo many people out there who have no clue about a) how much calories they need and b) how much more than that they are actually eating.

Sometimes I wonder how on earth the calorie content is that high on some menus. I wish that some places would really offer more lighter fare that cuts back on the salt without thinking they need to just coat everything in a salty super spicy sauce or rub. Take Olive Garden or Applebees lighter fare menu which has food 600 calories and under, some of them have sodium contents at 2200mgs! Other places I've seen have sodium at nearly 3000mgs, even if they've sold you on 500 calories or under. With one meal you've blown your entire daily intake and then some. You can easily reproduce copycats in your own kitchen and slash all of that down.

 

Most of the time I just wish things were smaller portion sized.

Is it clear how they would audit the printed numbers? Chains would be fine but not sure about the small restaurants. They probably don't want to scare people with the calorie content in the signature country breakfast skillet. I can easily see a 1200 calorie entree listed as 700 to make people feel good about it.

Hopefully Trump issues an Executive Order to get rid of this so he can continue to eat McDonald’s burgers guilt free.
