Obnoxious? Some.


Tacky? Often.


But Iowans, on the whole, are OK with the red, white and blue yard signs that line city streets each fall.


Iowa is among the most tolerant states in the country when it comes to political yard signs, a new survey shows.


ShieldCo, a Maryland sign and decor company, surveyed 3,000 Americans and found that nearly one in three would be irritated if a neighbor put up a political yard sign, according to a news release.


The majority of people — nearly 60 percent — believe that political yard signs should only be erected during specific times of the year. And almost one in 10 Americans would actually consider removing their neighbor’s sign — risking an awkward conversation at the neighborhood potluck.

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).
