You've got to wonder how many people who don't know about VJ and therefore may also not know to call and ask will miss their interview dates because the paperwork is stuck in the postal strike.

What to expect at the POE - WIKI entry

In my case I returned Packet 3 before I received it and I also included a letter with my tenancy agreement which expires at the end of November. The renewal period for my flat was another 6 months and so I asked if they could possibly interview me as soon as possible to allow me to arrange for moving my stuff before I am homeless. I am glad they could help me out with an early interview. When we first started this process the average USCIS time was around 90 days rather than the 140 or so it seems to be at the moment. When I took out the lease, nearly a year ago, it seemed like I had plenty of time.

17th March 2010 - Started the removal of conditions process

22nd March 2010 - Application received by CSC

30th April 2010 - Biometrics appointment

I asked about this yesterday when I rang and was simply told to call them later in the week if I still haven't received it. Don't fancy trying to get past security without some sort of comfirmation from the embassy that I should be there.

Re: interview dates, I've no idea why my interview has been scheduled so soon (maybe becuase I've gone through DCF rather than the NVC?); it's about a fortnight before my proposed travel date and I really didn't expect them to accomadate even that. I've actually been wondering if the bloke I spoke to got his months mixed up and he should have told me November rather than October. Certainly had other people on this thread not been ringing up to find their date I could have very easily missed the interview (in addition to the postal strike, the embassy keeps sending stuff to my old address despite me having informed them on three occasions of my new address) as I was assuming I would not hear anything until late-ish October. The embassy is certainly a flurry of activity now though.

Still no sign of packet 4. Called the helpline again, they didn't know if I required the letter or not in order to get into the embassy. Have emailed the embassy asking for some kind of confirmation for me to take with me on Wednesday. Hopefully will hear back soon but will let people know the response when I get it in case anyone is in a similar situation.

Yes in theory you need the letter, this is examined while you queue outside.

However you can't be the only one in this position at the moment and you would think the Embassy would be aware it might happen and have a plan in place just in case.

Hey guys,

Hoping someone can help me, I'm totaly stressed out, we're all set to get married on 14th dec and I was wanting to get out there before 7th dec as that's when my family will get there, they've never flown or even gone out of the uk before and I wanted to be there to pick them up when they arrive, I want to be there the whole time they were in the states so I can make the most of the last week I'm going to get to spend with them for a long time. We got our noa2 approval on 8th oct and I'm really worried that I won't get my visa in time to get out there for them, I'm even a little concerned I might not get the visa in time for my wedding!! Can anyone reassure me in anyway or give me any advice?? I have it planned that I'll have all the required info for the checklist and to send off with package 3 the day it arrives, I'm going to take the morning off work and have it sent the fastest way possible, if anyone can advise me if we really need to start changing our wedding plans or if I'm just over reacting I'd really appreciate it, or just any info at all. Thanks so much.

Daniel

If you have everything booked for the wedding you should send evidence of that and a letter explianing that you need a speedy interview date wihen you send back packet 3. Also, be sure to complete the anticipated travel date too. London are usually pretty good about accomodating applicants. Good luck!

I think that might be difficult to achieve. It is taking around 4 weeks for CSC to get the petitions through NVC. If you call NVC to get your case number, which begins LND, then you can return Packet 3 before you receive it.

Make sure that you have all the items you need for Packet 3 such as the Police certificate (takes 40 days to get), the affidavit of support, proof of income and such as soon as possible. There is a scan of a Packet 3 from London here http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/thumbna...y&uid=30186 Print it off and read the instructions. The forms referred to in the P3 scan can be found here http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/ .

I used the scan and the forms from the web to send in my Packet 3 a few days after the petition was sent to London from NVC. This saved me about a week and a half. When you send in the packet you can attach a covering letter explaining your circumstances and I think they will do the best they can for you.

Hope this helps

Panic over, Packet 4 came this morning (well technically this afternoon but that's Royal Mail for you). Still be interesting to see what sort of a response I get from the email I sent yesterday.

And the embassy has emailed me back with the following response:

"Thank you for your e-mail correspondence. A duplicate packet 4 has been sent out yesterday."

So still no wiser as to whether they are prepared to email a person the appointment details so they can use that email for entry authorisation in lieu of the letter. Ah well, naive of me to expect anything like a detailed response from them. So anyone else still waiting for packet 4 it might be worth requesting them to resend it.
