mmm is it normal to wait 3.5 weeks for packet 4?! our checklist arrived at the embassy Sept 8th and we still don't have an interview date?

or um wait. from reading another thread I gathered that they wait til you do your medical to schedule your interview. Is that true?

I would say that's a little long to wait for Packet 4 if you've already sent in Packet 3. Now, bear in mind there are going to be many postal strikes coming up so that could affect wait times as well. They don't wait until you've scheduled your medical to give the interview, so that's not it. What I would recommend is that you go ahead and call the embassy on their very expensive operator number. It is at an extortionate rate, but if they've already scheduled you the interview, they can see that on the system and will tell you over the phone so you can then go and schedule the medical. Its worth the cost for the peace of mind anyway.

Times really do vary on when P4 is sent out. Some people have waited well over a month, others only a few days. You know they've got P3, so it isn't an issue with it being lost in the mail. They don't necessarily wait for the medical before scheduling an interview; many people don't do that until they have an interview date.

I'd try to be a little more patient, if you can (hard I know). But if you are still worried then by all means phone, the only thing it'll hurt is your wallet.

Okay, well he's already had his medical.. I'm not sure how that works if we dont have packet four but they did let him schedule and he went. .

anyways errr. i guess we'll hold off a bit, i noticed that 129F people seem to have to wait longer for dates by looking at people's signatures on here so i'm not overly concerned yet.

however if something is wrong i want to fix it asap as id really like to get him over here for the holidays

yes but willchels phoned them and got a date....

it was in the embassy schedule but they had not sent packet 4 yet

so if they tell you a date over the phone it will be a big relief..

washington has the same database so can tell you for peanuts

At the risk of setting off a well worn argument, if you didn't put a date on form for when you wanted to be in the US you will wait longer for your interview date than people who gave them a target date to leave.

that's fine, looking around at all the typical timing put us exactly where we wanted in scheduling so we didn't bother with it. we'd like to be together for christmas, but he's still working his job and has to finish some things up there so we're not rushing.

actually just realized he may have put a date down due to wanting to be here for the holidays, but not sure. either way we expect an end of nov -beginning of december date for interview based on previous timelines here but if not it will not be big deal

as Alan said we called them and it was sorted on one call, next call was made to Doctors, we have a structure (went for medical on 03rd and Interview on 10th!)

If you call the number there in London, just make sure to have all your questions ready and ask everything clearly....so as to shorten the call time. They charge £1.20 per minute so it can get quite expensive. When we called, the guy was surprised we hadn't gotten our Packet 4 yet, but he told me that our interview was already scheduled and gave me a date. That way I could finish my preparations. Packet 4 arrived less than a week later, but it was all worth it for the peace of mind we got.
