Ham and cheese with tomato, lettuce, avocado, mexican cheese, jalapenos, onions, and mayonaise. You can actually use any kind of meat. A particularly popular meat to use in Mexico on these types of sandwiches is hot dogs. Man they are good. They're called tortas down there. So good it will make you slap your grandma.

pesto, turkey, with a bit of goat cheese and green leafy lettuce or spinach on some good bread.

Yikes, that sounds really salty!

I am not really a salt lover or adder and I enjoy the sandwich.

But there are tons of things I don't like! LIKE egg and mayo...

egg and anything really! :)

Love eggy and mayo, love it!

I've worked in a lot of very fine dining in the US and Europe but never anything like a cafe so I have come up with stuff that no one around here does. I've used ideas of flavors that go well together. That is why I say "crazy". It will be cray to people here because it isn't something done here. It could be something that someone has just come up with on their own or had somewhere. Some of the ones I have of my own are:

Tomato, Mozzarella & Prosciutto

Cuban Sandwich

Nutella (one of my favorites btw)

Roast prime rib, horseradish mayo, tomato & arugula

Tuna & Avocado

Turkey, smoked gouda, and sun dried tomato mayo (not "crazy" but good)

Grilled veggie with basil pesto (another not "crazy" but good)

Blackened Salmon Po' Boy

Chicken & Artichoke with Olive Tapenade

Herb Fritatta, Arugula, & Roasted Red Pepper

Roast prime rib, shaved asiago cheese, and roasted garlic & shallot smear

U need that nice deli bread ( any store will sell it, is round instead of the regular sunbeam shape)

mortadela

salami

prosciutto

fontina cheese

provolone cheese

sliced tomato and peppers (from those little bottles that u spread over focaccia bread)

make the sandwich, put it in a pan for like 2 min each side, pan covered, wait for the cheese to melt, then add whatever ( I add mayo and mustard)

Had a sandwich in Wales one time ... cranberry & brie on focaccia bread.. it was incredible - never heard of anything like that here.

As kids we loved peanut butter & b'bque sauce sandwiches.. sounds disgusting but.. the combo is yummers :)

Also a note on egg salad. My ex-mother in law told me once the secret to the perfect egg salad sandwich is to add some mustard to taste.. It does as a zip that is really great!

One of my other fav. sandwhiches is a tuna melt.. tuna, mayo & mozza cheese mixed together and then put on a english muffin or roll and broiled in the oven.. mmmmmmmm
