Hello,

New to this whole thing and I'm sure this question is somewhere out there and has been answered, but I just received my NOA2. In the approval notice it seems to give a time line for "validation". my approval is valid from 04/27/18 to 08/26/18. My questions is, does all paperwork leading up to my fiancées issuance of her visa need to be completed within in this time frame or is this a deadline in which we need to initiate further processing before the case becomes idle? also if we are unable to finish everything within that deadline what would be the consequences?

thanks,

Joe

You need to schedule interview before this date.(so yes overall everything should be ready before this)

or contact with embassy and ask if they can extend it (they may ask for the reason)

consequences: your petition going invalid.

This time frame is more then enough to complete all the paperwork related to scheduling an interview, unless something unusual happens like long hospitalization etc.

Key point is so start working on paperwork needed now: signed affidavit of support, fresh signed letters of intent to marry, police check, birth certificate etc. and later medicals too. I had everything prepared before case was at the NVC stage so later I could only focus on medicals and stuff needed for AOS like sworn birth certificate translation etc.

She needs to have her interview before that date. If you schedule it for after, your petition won’t be valid and you’ll have to start all over again, including all the fees. USCIS will only renew a petition if it’s their own mistake.

This is not correct.

uscis won’t renew the petition because this has nothing to do with uscis, it is just an extension given by embassies. And can be done. Needs extra steps but it can be done.
