Hi Scott Rusticus. Sorry for my English. I'm Venezuelan and living here currently. Me and my fiance  we are waiting for the process too. We already recieved the NOA1 one month ago and everything is Ok till now. I understand your concern. But relax. You don't need  send to your fiancee the Affidavit of Support now with supporting documents yet. After the process is done in USCIS and the case is in the Embassy in Caracas the appoinments usually is taking 2 or more months to be assigned so in that time she must make the medical exams, get her criminal record and you can sent to her the form I-134 (Affidavit of support) and the others documents. She can NOW like I am doing is getting ready my birth certificate original and copy, Birth certicates my kids, a copy the packet it was sent to USCIS, divorce decree if any, your birth certificate and those stuff. The criminal record expire in 3 months so if she gets that document now probably it doesn't work and the form I-134 is in the USCIS webpage expire in November this year so you don't know when the process it will done and when she will get her appoinment... That is my suggestion. If you want, I am willing to give some helps to your fiancee I live so near to Caracas. By other hand, it's too had to live here and get the documents but the criminal record no too hard for get and I assume she has valid passport because the passport is very very hard to get...Sucess!

I applied back in December in Chicago and it was pretty straight forward. My visa was actually denied though which, in hindsight, was a huge blessing. It is extremely dangerous for Americans in Venezuela right now. We spent some time together in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in February and will be back together in Junt for 18 days. It was awesome and we loved it!

My fiancée lives in Valencia and we have not started the K-1 process yet. I am also concerned about delays with respect to the situation at the Venezuelan embassy. Also, he plans to visit me here in the USA in Aug via his tourist visa.

Looking for realistic timelines and also a more important question: How far into the K-1 process can he still visit the USA on a B-2 (realizing of course that it will be up to the discretion of customs)?

Has anyone from the US applied for a Visa to go to Venezuela at the embassy/consulate in NYC? I am very confused about what I actually need and no one ever answers the phone there.

I did. But the the Venezuela consulate in New Orleans rejected my visa application without any explanations. That's sucks. We have to met each other in third countries.

Same here but mine was in Chicago. It is for the best. It is VERY dangerous there. When we meet we got to the Dominican Republic and it is beautiful!
