Hi there, i filed a I130 for my two stepchildren in January of 2018.  I received a letter for USCIS that they received and are currently reviewing the I130 forms.  It's already May and i have not heard of any information on the approval.  Does anyone know how long will the approval process or do i start to calling USCIS and ask for information?  Not sure if anyone is experiencing it as well.

You likely won't hear back for 8-10 months from I*130 filing. Some people are lucky and hear back sooner, but 8-10 tends to be the norm right now...some longer even.

You mean you filed 2 I-130s: one for each of your 2 stepchildren, right?

yes, filed for two (1each sc).  So does this mean that it will be silent for 8-10 or more months?  so overall, i would say 2 years or longer waiting for them to get the children to be here in the US?

Good on the 2 I-130s.

Nobody can know when a specific petition will be adjudicated, but the average is roughly 8-10 months from I-130 filing. You may get an RFE before that, but otherwise you won't hear anything until they make a decision. The waiting is the hardest part IMO.

Once the I-130 is approved, the cases will be sent to NVC and more documentation will be needed to be submitted. Then processing is about 2-3 months IIRC. Then they wait for an interview at the embassy (and gather documents needed for it). This timeline varies by embassy/consulate, but is usually 1-3 months. I think London is fairly quick here, but don't hold me to that. from initial I-130 filing to interview is typically taking ~12-14 months right now. I wouldn't say 2 years is common, but it could grow to 16 or so months by the time your case is looked at, or even longer if any hurdles pop up in your case.

thank you for the information

It appears that you do not have a timeline and I could not determine from your thread if you are an American citizen and applying for IR-2/CR-2 visas with your two step-children.  All information written is this thread is correct for IR-2/CR-2 visas.

Just writing this because if you are a LPR (with green card), then the advice to be given is very different for a F2A visa.

If somewhere it was mentioned that you are an American citizen ... I apologize but can not see if so.
