Everyone,

You may recall that I posted a question regarding a problem with the NVC sending my petition to the wrong country. I was having difficulty reaching the embassy in Nicaragua to request the transfer, as they were closed do to violent protests and demonstrations within the country.

Today I received an exciting email from the Nicaraguan embassy, leading me to believe that the petition has been successfully transferred from Costa Rica. Here is the text from the letter:

Dear Mr.  Steve,

We are sending this message to inform you that our office received the K-1 approval petition to process a K-1 non-immigrant visa for Mrs. Lucky Nicaraguan.

Please find attached to this message an instruction packet, listing all documentation required  for the visa interview.  Please note that these instructions are for each beneficiary.

We appreciate if you could please forward the instructions to Mrs. Fichtner. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail at ManaguaConsularIV@state.gov

Sincerely,

Visas Unit

Consular Section

U.S. Embassy

Managua, Nicaragua

Am I correct in assuming that the petition was transferred to Nicaragua?

Also, I have a few additional questions:

1.The letter said that there is an attached instruction packet. Unfortunately, the email contained no attachments. Any ideas?

2. What do we need to do next? I am working on the I-134. My fiancee filed the DS-160, and is gathering documents (police reports, birth certificate, etc.) Am I missing anything?

3. How/when should we schedule the interview? Should we wait until after we have all of the documents, and the medical exams before we schedule the interview?

Great for you! Now you don't have to wait for them to chase the k1 packet all over CA.

1. Email the embassy and ask for it. That's what I did. The packet simply contains the names of the approved civil surgeons as well as the docs you will need to bring to the interview.

2. .Have you paid the visa fee (I did via paypal online)? After about 12 hours after payment you can THEN select an available slot for the interview. She will need the police report, birth certificate, certificate of singleness, and the medical exam stuff all for the interview.  I had my husband get those notarized for a few extra bucks just in case.  Make sure to get a copy or two of the birth certificate before she hands it in at the interview, you will need one for the AOS/green card process.

3. The docs won't take long. Maybe a day or two since it involves standing in long lines and/or waiting to go back next day to pick it up. I would wait to schedule interview until you know for sure when she is going to the medical exam.  For example, I scheduled it after my husband made the medical exam appointment with a week in between to make sure the results would be ready.

I guess it's up to you and with what you feel comfortable doing. Our interview was literally 45 seconds after about 4.5 hours of waiting. Very anti-climactic :PGood luck!

Hi,

I got my State notification on May 1 and the Consulate email just like yours on May 3. I actually just came back from Nicaragua as i took all the paperwork missing to my fiance.  The attachment are two world files explaining the steps and things you need. I could actually send them to you as they seen standard and dont provide any other information just what you need to do.

I actually was all day on Managua this pass Friday getting my Birth certificate authenticated as me im Nicaraguan myself and i do required the same as her. She now need to pay for the doctor interview and get the shoots required.  is recommend having your medical card with you to avoid additional charger of anything that they might miss as it could rank up to $400+ just of shots.

i dont usually check the site but try to reach me via PM

take care

Hello Dear Nicas,

Our case status is IN Transit to Nicaragua embassy since last week. When I check available appointments for an interview the earliest one is June 26 :((  Is it really that much full or embassy is not working regularly due to recent events?

probably a bit of both :(

Book what you can now and if you keep checking and see one that opens up, take it/reschedule

Hi,

Nicaragua is not stable enough as of now. the last available interview was MAY16  and nothing shows open till June.  The best way will be to try via chat for them to provide you a date.  My fiance took her interview today as i chat with them on Friday. Her may 16 apoitntment got cancel right when she was there ready for the interview. they did not provide any more information.  They keep saying all the way to July.  I spoke via chat to a Representative and they move the date to  MAY 21 today. Unfortunately her birth certificate needs to be provided from National registry and not they way we go it. We are waiting now to send the paper work to get it approve  hopefully.

If you are the Petitioner, try the Embassy chat or try to call them..  Unfortunately you as an American will get better result from them .

Good luck ,  Nicaragua is just going through the worse right now.
