My wife’s green card expires in October 2018. She came over on a K-1 visa. What is the best step from here. I keep hearing that we have to apply to lift the conditions to get a 10 year visa and being able to apply for citizenship in 3 years. Pleas help.

She has to apply for a form I-751 (petition to remove conditions on residence). The earliest she can apply is 90 days prior to the expiration date of the 2 year conditional green card but must do so before the expiration date. She can download the form I-751 at USCIS.gov and follow instructions regarding documentary evidence to be submitted, fees and where to submit. Additionally there’s a guide here on the removal of condition forum to help make it easy for you. Current fee is $680. ($595 + $85 biometric fee).

Thanks for your help. We sent out the I-751 petition about 17 days ago and have yet to get a response back from anybody. Does anyone know a reason why? Please help.

Yes. Process times are taking longer than usual now. It is now taking 30 days or more to get NOA1.

Don't worry, if you filed already you can call USCIS for an update....won't hurt.

No. The check wasn’t cashed but the I-751 forms were returned back on August 10 2018 because we didn’t document a certain number. As of 12 Sep 2018 we  haven’t recieved  anything back nor have they cashed the check. We called them and said that the I-751 had to be mailed to Dallas instead of California. What do we do from here? Please help.

Where did you file? It can take up to 3-4 weeks to get NOA. Did you track the package and it was delivered?

Well, we called yesterday and they gave

us a new address where the paperwork has to go to now. As of earlier this month, the I-751 has been changed to Dallas, Tx instead of California. We had to send an email to LockboxSupport@uscis.dhs.gov to forward our paperwork to Dallas. We did put a USPS tracker and it shows that USCIS did receive our paperwork on 10 Aug 2018. Should we resend another copy of the I-751 and check for $680 to Dallas or wait for a respond from USCIS?

Just giving our scenario of what happened and how we dealt with it.  We forwarded our package to California instead of Vermont by mistake on 8/23.  On 9/4 realized we made a mistake.  Reassembled a new package and mailed it to the correct service center on 9/5.  We also called the bank and put a stop payment on the check that was sent to the wrong center in order to avoid case duplication.  The original package has not returned to us yet, CA center is backlogged so I do not anticipate receiving that until at least end of September or October.  Vermont center just issued and sent the extension letter to us.
