Hi all...

I visited my fiancée for 9 days and we did an engagement day. Now, after 6 months, I want to visit him again in Morocco for 7 days. I do not know what is right. Do we marry in Morocco when I visit him for the second time or wait?

The second choice is to meet in Ecuador (Third visit), marry there and make a wedding. Then we translate the marriage contract into English in Ecuador, but my fiancé lives in Morocco and the interview day should be in Morocco

Is the second choice allowed to have no problem or not?

After the second visit we will complete a year of relationship

If we make the second option (marriage in Ecuador) the relationship will be 18 months

Thanks..

Where you get married doesn't affect where you have your interview.

My husband and I got married in St. Lucia and he's from the UK, so that's where his interview was.  It's about where he lives, not where you get married.

Mar 2014 - Married

5/7/14?? - Attorney mailed paperwork

5/15/14 DHS cashed check

5/19/14 - NOA1 received with PD 5/12/14

10/17/14 - NOA2 received

10/28/14 - Email received that file has been sent to NVC

11/13/14 - NVC received file

12/10/14 - NVC Assigned case number

12/12/14 - AOS Fee Invoiced

12/13/14 - Submit email to NVC to remove attorney as DS-261 Agent

1/5/15 - USPS delivered packages to NVC

1/7/15 - NVC scanned in packages. Let the countdown begin...

1/30/15 - FINALLY got a reply to my email to remove the attorney from the DS-261

3/9/15 - Called NVC and they have checklisted us for an "incorrect" decree absolute from the UK, even though it is the legal official document. Have requested a supervisor review.

4/28/15 - Called and NVC said supervisor had reviewed and now claimed that the decree absolute was not included. After disagreeing with the less than helpful lady on the phone, and her not being able to get the review time right. (She kept changing her story between 42 days and 30 days).

4/30/15 - Sent the same copy of the decree absolute to the NVC from the UK, highlighting the "decree absolute" wording with a letter stating that this is the only document provided by the UK government.

5/6/15 - Scan date for checklist received.

6/5/15 - Case complete!!!

What is your opinion of the situation, what is the most appropriate and successful, the first or second option?

I think it might be easier if you marry in Morocco. Casablanca is a tough consulate, so you don't want them questioning why you didn't marry in Morocco since it's very culturally important for the family to be very involved in the wedding (unless they are all going to Ecuador too). Plus you'll miss out on the fun of a Moroccan wedding, and having photos with his family and friends can be a huge benefit come interview time.

I know from reading a lot on here that Morocco is very tough, so I would read up on the regional forum to understand how to “frontload” you application. Like RJandHamid mentioned, if it’s important culturally, then you may need to get married in Morocco, but you might want to visit 1 or 2 more times to establish the relationship a little more

I forget her username, and I’m on my phone so can’t easily look it up, but one of the girls on here went through the process for her husband in Casa and she’s always hugely helpful with questions about what they did and had to do again to get approved after an initial denial.

Good luck!!!

I’m Ecuadorean I’m very cultural as well. It’s very important for me that my family is present is the “reception/party”. I was thinking to visit him in September and get married/sign the contract with his parents and my parents present and then go to Ecuador to do the reception etc.. Traveling from Morocco to Ecuador is too expensive and long hours trip so it will be almost impossible to flight his parent to Ecuador.. The other option was that after the second time visiting him to apply for the k1 visa and during the process visit him again in February and so on...

If your parents and his parents can be present for the legal marriage in Morocco, I think that's the way to go. You can still have a party/ceremony in Ecuador after the CR1 process. You could do the K1 visa as well, but I don't recommend it. Not only are K1s being denied at a high rate in Casablanca, but also you will need to wait until he gets to the US before you can have any kind of marriage ceremony. Then after getting married and filing AOS, he'll need to wait 3-5 mouths before he can travel out of the country.

I think getting married in Morocco and then going the CR1 process will be easiest and more likely to have a better interview outcome.

Thank you for your advise. Do you or someone here knows what are the requirements to get married in Casablanca? Such as documentation, translations etc..
