Hey guys, I work part at my job, and my job employment letter states that I will get paid $15.00 per hour, and does not state how many hours I work per week but I do work an average of 30 hours a week since the start of 2018, which will turn out to $23,400. My 2017 W2 states $18,900 (since I was working less hours for school).

What should I put for the annual income for I864?

30×15x52. I think you need a join sponsor.

30x15x52 equals out to $23,400

Poverty guideline of 2 for 2018 is $20,575.

I'm not being sarcastic or anything but do I really need a joint sponsor?

Fortunately, for the OP, this is NOT correct.  Tax returns are about the past.  He could have made well over the minimum last year, and lost his job entirely, making his true current income zero.

The correct way to properly calculate current income is to take the Year to Date total earnings from the latest pay stub and divide by the number of pay periods so far this year.  Then, multiply that number by the number of pay periods in the full year.  THAT is the current income.

For somebody who always works the same number of hours or is salaried instead of hourly, you would just multiply the income for the pay period times the number of pay periods in a year.  Make a thousand a week, your current income is $52,000 a year.  It really is that simple.

Only the self employed use a tax return to calculate current income.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
