Hi

This is our situation, we filed for a K1 visa in Jan 2018, we got an email that USCIS received our package and  the receiving date was Jan 29th.

We never got a hard copy so my fiancee called the office at the end of Feb telling them that we never received a hard copy.

I think she had to call 3 or 4 times, it was a struggle getting the right person on the phone, finally  she talked with someone who could change her adress and send her the N01 hard copy which  she received a week later, I think it was earlly april.

Today we got this email

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application. If you do not receive your document, please contact our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Oh and your status may change to “document was mailed” but your received date is same.

Status says now

Document Was Returned To USCIS

Next Steps

  • Next upcoming event

We will return your document if we are able.  Please update or verify your current address information.  If we destroyed an undeliverable document, please follow our instructions.

But as I mentioned earlier, we all ready changed the address and received the hard copy of our NOA1.

Should I ask online to send it again??? Or change the address again, I do not think that is necessary .

Any tips ??

Regards again

Bill

I understand the address changed. What’s the date for document was returned, cause if a document was returned to them it would mean it didn’t change.. but if this is an old status and you received your document after this status update then you have no problem, they just didn’t update the website which happens a lot.

so important thing is when did this status changed to “document was returned” and when did you received your noa1.

We received the NOA1 april  23, and yesterday we got this txt message and email that the package was returned. The document was returned May 3rd, but I think that was the 1st one, We called rhe office, and they send a new one to my fiancee's new address, do we need to worry or not?

Sorry I missed the notification before. I also think that’s the first one but because the timing is a little vague it is good that you called them.

if you called and ask for a new one, Wait for that one to reach you. And see if it does. If it doesn’t then confirm your address again.

did you confirm the new address when you called?

Thanks you @NaesWe received our hard-copy of the NOA1 after we called them and changed the address to the new address,  so they have the right address. So the only thing what bothers me is our current status, it says document was returned.

Well as long as you have noa1, there’s no big problem.

the only thing is they sometimes send out noa2 without any update on their system, and then it becomes important to confirm the address.

So wait for a week for it to reach you and if it doesnt you should call them again for explanation. In the meantime I will try to find another member who went through this (I know many managed to change the address, so don’t worry)

I changed my address right after getting NOA1.

I signed up for informed delivery and saw that USCIS had mailed the hard copy so I was expecting it. It never came. I looked at the scanned copy from USPS and the USCIS had entered a "APT" after my street address. I looked at my copy of the petition and NOWHERE did I put an APT!!! Their mistake. I did the online address switch on March 10th here: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAInitForm.do;jsessionid=7CE515F67FB6F592A6573ED032E0A5B0

Then I got this email in confirmation on the 10th:

Address change request successfully submitted:
Updated Address To:
Tina XXXXXX George
MY ADDRESS
SPOKANE, WA 99XXX
Service Request: CA10691XXXXXXXXX
Expect a reply by: March 22, 2018

Then I got an email on March 12th that said this:

After I got that email I called them to make sure I didn't need to do anything. I asked if they would send the NOA1 hard copy back to me when they received it. He said that they had NOT received it back yet and that my address WAS updated and that NO they would not send it to me again. The guy I spoke to said as long as I had my text confirmation and email confirmation with my W receipt number that is all I need.

I am very confused as to why they sent your 129F back to you??????? Because of an address problem???? WHAAAAAAAT?

Either I should be concerned or they sent your 129F back to you for another reason?......

Also, how do you have "CASE INFORMATION" I thought you only get this after NOA2. I don't have a case number. I can't login anywhere and see any "CASE UPDATES" ??
