I have been here 20yrs and my kids can not come to visit me because i filed for green cards 4 years ago for them

my daughter is doctor and son is successful business person

i am citizen and have been at least 15 years i thought applying for green card would make it easy for them to come visit

Now because of this application they can not get visa to visit or for business travel

i do not really care about green card my daughter will miss a business conference this summer and my son can not come to visit

HELP! any advise appreciated

If they can't show enough ties to their home country then there is nothing that you or us can do about it.

Family petition doesn't help since it show immigration intent.

You cannot withdraw the petition at this point.

If they had enough ties it should work. If they are successful professionals with jobs, property, etc., they should be able to get the visas. I don't think the green card petition is playing such a big role in their denial.

Were they already denied the visas? If so, they should not reapply soon, because they will get denied again. At this point, it is better to wait for the green card.

Why precisely do you believe the sole reason for their denial is because of a petition? It may play a part of the decision, but people do obtain a tourist visa with a pending family preference-based immigration petition.

It's awful that they can't visit, but there's nothing you can do to make them eligible. Simply withdrawing the petition very likely won't change a CO's decision.

Applying for their green cards shows immigration intent, which can make it a bit more difficult to obtain a tourist visa, as you've seen.

As said before, if you withdraw their petitions now, that action won't automatically let them get a tourist visa either.

That said, other than their professions, what else are their individual ties back to their home country?  Do they own property/their own homes?   How many times have they applied for a tourist visa?  If they continue to file without their personal circumstances changing with each filing, or file repeatedly in quick succession, then it can result in multiple denials.

Curious where you heard that from/who told you this?  Many people successfully obtain a tourist visa with a pending family-based application.

If they can afford the fee, and they have proof of sufficient ties back home.....it's worth at least trying, don't you think?

Well personally I not only visited on an existing B1/B2 visa but got it renewed for a further 10 years/multiple entry with a green card petition in progress, so the fact that you’re basing everything off something you’ve been “told” is kind of silly. If your daughter is being sent overseas on business conferences that indicates the kind of job that is typically seen as a solid tie and helps get a visa granted. Really, the obvious approach here is just for them to actually apply for tourist visas...

We have a mega thread with hundreds of posts that says otherwise.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Please Please Please do not believe everything you immigration wise. We deal with this quite a bit here on VJ when someone says "I heard about this issue or that" when in all actuality it's false.
