Hello

I translated my own birth certificate for the adjustment of status and added the paragraph at the end that was suggested in the forum , I got it notarized but I received an RFE. Seems like they want me to get it professionally translated. Most places I see online only require that you send them a scanned copy of your birth certificate and then they send you a certified copy that you need to print. As an Argentine, to me that's quite weird since we require all sorts of real stamps  in Argentina, not just something you print. So the question is, do I just need to send the printed certified copy or do I also need to hire their notarization services? Can I just print the certified copy and notarize it for free at the bank or they won't do it because it's the translators who need to do it themselves?.

Thanks

Hi. When we did our K1 in Buenos Aires a few years ago I did my own translation of the birth certificate (the from registro civil) and they never requested an official translator to do any notarization in any phase of the process. If you are fully competent in english then you can do it yourself. I can provide you with a sample how I did it.
